I didn't like losing you
And my tears cried the truth
With rain that came
On the cloudiest day
Like heaven was crying too

I swore that God had cried that day
As he watched me from above
Wishing he could make it end
Wishing for the sake of our love

I never thought I'd see a day
My Grandpa wasn't in
His heart, it beat
It beat away
And then, at once, it stopped

I gagged on my own sorrow
I bathed in my own tears
He didn't live to see tomorrow
He worked seventy years

And now he's gone
Oh, how he's gone
A love I can't get back
I wish I could re-see that day
When on the train
Of death, he hopped
When his breaths began to slip away
And then

For the contest "AND THEN IT STOPPED"

I dedicate this poem to my Grandfather, who recovered from an unexpected mini-stroke a few days ago. May he live to see tomorrow. I love you, Papa!
