I Need Your Help Daddy

I’m tired
I’m Physically and Emotionally tired
I don’t want to be the strong one anymore
I can’t this time
I don’t know what to do Daddy
I need your help down here

I can’t get back in control of my emotions
I’m having a hard time dealing with your absence
I’m having a hard time standing by myself
I need your help Daddy

I’m broken and lost without you Daddy
I need your will to want to carry on
I need your strength to over come this
I need your strength to stay standing
Your courage to fight back again
I need your help

Please Daddy I’m at a loss
How am I suppose to do this
I need your guidance
I need you to guide me back
To whom I was before
I need your help Daddy
I need your help

sweet baby girl

Sweeter than a flower special as could be
A little girl softly asleep
Kneeling in prayer singing a tune
Beautiful young one baby girl
See her face glowing
Know that she's going to a better place
Surrounded by angels
Near the pearly gates
Safely in the sacred arms
Looking up at Jesus face
Sweeter than a flower
Special as could be
A little girl softly asleep
Close your eyes right now
See her going
To a better place
Your little baby girl

Elegy for Little Nick

Drop drizzling petals of tears here
For Little Nick, weep the emptiness left behind,
The void in the ocean of love, care
Stumbling through the shadows bereft and blind.
Balm O fragrant wind our despair
Memories that cannot wilt at the altar of pain.
Death is a common tragedy we share
Faith makes it better, touch hope with prayer again.

Little Nick, I did know you, but I know the memory
Familiar as my own son taken away
Before youth was past, or joy wrote a history
Of his dream. So weep I this child today
So weep I, for I am a silent witness to this grief
That sometimes threatens faith and belief.
You know its natural for the old to die
At least we expect it after our boredom
Have discovered life is a waiting game,
But the young wilt as a morning blossom
Too soon for dreams to tell what flame
Was in them, what light to give or to seer
The hills where soldiers fall, or bear there
A flag scrawled on sky a wordless page to stare

Upon. Yet there is more meaning than this
More than missing soldiers and flagged heroes
In the hollow tides of messages, that we miss.
God takes his own from among the young, sows
Them anew among the stars to light us home.
And what is meant for evil is changed to good
In the blinking moment of a tear. I've combed
Scriptures, and philosophies hounding blood
For answers before, and then he took me there
To the parting door, and I seeing though blind
Understood how the cross made heaven bare
And blend human loss to love in heaven's mind.

So through our hot and weary days of the panting sun
Ww will think of you, little Nick, God's work is well done.

A Service Member's Prayer

A Service Member's Prayer

Oh, God, I feel that I have cause
To know my life might give You pause,
But fair as You are sure to be,
I seek Your way on bended knee.
I wish neither to kill nor die,
Though from engagement I'll not shy.
For if my duty calls me there,
I'll do whatever I must dare.

I seek not courage for the fight.
I seek not comfort from the night.
I ask not pardon for my deeds,
Nor any salve for any needs.
I only ask to know what's right,
To do my best to check my might,
To render mercy where I should,
To know I serve the greater good.

Oh, God, if You will hear my plea,
I ask so very much of thee.
I fear not men, I fear not death,
Yet bow my head and still my breath
To ask You, please, to do Your best,
To keep me from eternal rest,
Until the hour my duty sends
Me home to family and friends.

And if You grant my humble prayer,
Oh, God, I ask You, keep from care
Those people whom I hold most dear.
I wish them not to shed a tear
In anguish over days now done,
Where my dawn was their setting sun.
For then, if You will grant my plea,
I'll soon be nearer them and Thee.

I Folded My Mother Up

I folded my mother up
Into a creased peace of paper
Folding memories into intentions.
Flattening the dementia of unstructured emotions
Into a neat, file-able document.

We arc this abyss; tightening ropes over time.
We are not our worst intentions,
but we are the acts that follow.
Like clobbering footsteps tripping over
broken pavements of Being.

We are the not sum of our categories
or the crimes that we have witnessed
But we are the balance
That keeps us falling forwards without stumbling
Over our own shoelace sense of time.

Pal Bearer

Through grass heft casket white
where green waits to swallow hard
the dreams of lovers and friends.

On a day the wind bullied clouds
skirts waved goodbye over bended knee
of hurt prayer and plea.

I saw the one whom knew
what none above could:

My Dying Moth

Do pray with me my dying moth
for we are not forgiven yet,
till we don't shed the silken cloth
and both our wings to fire set.
Do pray for me while you are there,
inside your grief our holy land,
how can I for redemption care!
While my own touch the sinking sand.
Still pray, for life is short and ill,
can't empty minds the gardens find,
I might not my transgressions kill,
while praise the earth that burns my kind.
But you are ill and cannot fly,
like a beggars eye do you bargain;
a day, a life, why do you try
and go through the forsaken pain.
If pray you must, do pray for me,
have yet to earn my deepest sin,
though a creature wise you cannot see
a moment through the human skin.
Please pray, as once had for life prayed
in the calmest of your timeless age,
we paint our stay with our own shade
and in this blank find all the rage.
Pray with those burnt out wings so pure,
and ask for me the holy balm,
that does to men the sense restore,
but to this man the senseless calm.
Do pray as I will die one day,
until that day I cannot live,
just dream that you may live to pray,
and to my moth a purpose give.

Rythm of a prayer

Let me sing this song
Dozens words in my yearning rhythm
Delivered within the wind of autumn
A single pray, only for you

In this moment of silence
Bearing clearly in my mind
The love we have given one another
In our years of sharing

You embraced me with endless love
A love that cannot be compared
And it lights my sky forever
Made me a woman I am

We are destined to have each other
Since my first breath, until your last
So I sing this song for you,

In Memory of Lee

As I stare up at the sky,
I sit and wonder why,
God has taken you so quickly,
when you have been saved so recently.

Only to perceive
and I believe,
that at Victory Baptist you came to rest,
so that you could meet Jesus and be blessed.

Because in Heaven,
you were expected,
he needed you to heed his call
and be able to turn away from it all

And if you did not have a chance to say,
good-bye to your family,
you will be reunited with them one day
and until then they will think of you daily.

So, now I kneel and pray,
asking God to lift their grief away,
that he allows her to meet them at heaven's door,
so that they may hold her once more.

That I have to post this upsets me:
My poems are copyright. I am sharing my
poems for you to read not for you to
post willy-nilly to a website, in
your newsletter or anywhere else with out
my permission. I am available, leave me a
message. Especially to those who change
the name of my poem and not give proper
credit. You should be ashamed!

Silent Prayer for her Son

Her words had meant a thousand meanings but still i felt no self healing
for i had hurt her, done her wrong, called her a slave and nothing beyond
she was african but i be white, does that make us different
to see through the eyes of life and feel the nature hell bent

So many days had i been white, to insult the african woman who worked so hard
her skin, dry from the planting seasons, her hair so ratted from the water loss outside
but that same night i had called her worthless and slave she bowed her head
and i as well for it was her last wish, and that made it sacred

"Dear Lord" she said as she began her prayer and her eyes filled with tears
her silent stature, blissed with love and pure confinement, shone though
she was african but i be white, does that make us not afraid to die
to fear the darkness of the night and worship all who makes light no questions no why

"May all who recieve thy lord's love, cry to the bloodshed moon
for if man and woman be forgotten the balance of evil and good
will perish and i have seen this for my eyes turned blind by work
but here i sit with the same girl who did so and wish her no harm"

To stand up felt wrong but as she did so i followed out into the pasture
looking about i noticed the cows this african had milked 'um so many
but she was confident and bent down to the dirt that had one blue rose
i bent also not knowing if what i did was because i felt anything that arose

"And dear lord let her memories have soem of my son's
let the very feet he walked with be hers for i know they were strong
fast and smart he was but none know of he except me
but this girl right here will now know of his eternity"

And with that silent prayer sent to the heavens, i too began to cry
our shoulders shaked and our heads bobbed as the night engulfed us once more
she be african but i be white, does that make us sisters
yes, for we have both suffered and lost, loved and cherished, stood and cowered, worked till
death with blisters

My Last Prayer

The Last Prayer
Father, I feel your presence…..even in my desperate state.
My eyes are heavy, my body weak….but I anxiously await.
Ever listening for your call…..quietly at rest fond memories to my mind I recall.
Hear my heart dear Lord for I can no longer speak.
Send your angels down for me….Bare me home on angel wings.
Closer home than yesterday…. I can hear the voices of the angels sweetly sing.
My eyes to this life now closed…I feel excited this journey to take, all eternity for me
I long to walk through those Heavenly gates!
The sorrows of this life now pass away forgotten memories of my yesterday.
Father, I will miss those I leave behind, but this my last prayer…..Please bring them
home to be with me someday……

An Existential Prayer

What remains is honour now
And baptism with the waters of death

Requiem For the Absolute

Take the sun away, and find me in a new day
The laws of this land are so hard to obey
You've showed me the way where we must all g
oTaken from me this beautiful sanctuary
Required till this day was your frozen soul
Blessed art thee for you have conquered
So gently you unwrapped my hopes and dreams
Lost and numb my heart beckons for the day
Relinquish these hands searching for my soul
Find a way to make me through this day
Requiem for the absolute- a prayer that cannot wait
Requiem for the absolute-I'll wait till the hymns be said
Requiem for the absolute- the dream that will not end
Barriers that create I create-- her suffering the cause of pain
While you sang to me about the dead star so innocently
So I came to thee while your eyes were glistening ever so sweetly
Inspired by thee I can't wait to see the day (the day)
when I have got you in my grave
Relinquish these hands searching for my soul
Find a way to make me through this day
Requiem for the absolute- a prayer that cannot wait
Requiem for the absolute-I'll wait till the hymns be said
Requiem for the absolute- the dream that will not end
Relinquish these hands searching for my soul
Find a way to make me through this day
Requiem for the absolute- a prayer that cannot wait
Requiem for the absolute-I'll wait till the hymns be said
Requiem for the absolute- the dream that will not end

A Son's Answer

It's ok Mom and Dad
please be happy and don't be sad

Look up in the sky and what do you see
into the clouds, you'll see an image of me

I might have left you but I'm still here
being forgotten, I do not fear

I know you love me and I love you
being taken away from you hurts me too

Whatever happened it's over now
I will find a way to be with you someday and somehow.

I'm in heaven and he's taking care of me
Say a little prayer for me.

Prayer for Bounty

When I'm old and tired
I reckon I'll say and do stuff
in my typically bold way will
inspire people wanna take me down.

I deserve it.
(Deserve is one helluva word, ain't it?)

When I'm old and tired
hope folks will overlook
glaring eccentricities and contradictions

In favor of effort to love.

The Cycle:Part 1

Let me introduce you to a young man named Johnny.
He truly loved his brother Tommy.
As youths the two were inseparable.
But living in the projects, three years ago they faced the inevitable.
Sixteen years old playing ball at the park.
Neither one was expecting the car creeping through the dark.
The vehicle stopped about 20 yards away.
Immediately the bullets began to spray.
Scared for his life little Johnny began to flee.
And Tommy’s last steps were something he never got to see.
As the car sped off he heard an awful yell.
Before he could turn he wished he had been shot himself.
The vision he saw was a nightmare.
But it was far too real because Tommy died right there.
At the service he said a silent prayer.
Now 19 he lives without a care.
Left to face the world without his brother,
He makes sure his pain is felt by others.
As he recalls the blood pouring out of his mouth.
And the sound of Tommy’s last breaths gurgling out,
He feels the rage burning inside.
There isn’t anyone who can keep him in line.
Now he is the one causing the blood shed.
And he won’t stop until the man responsible was dead.
However, he is now the one being hunted.
Because another young “G” made the same prayer he once did.
Before the assailant finally pulls the trigger,
He lets a tear fall as he begins to whisper;
“Remember that kid you shot four times?
That was my brother man, now it’s your time.
I promised to see you die quick.”
Finally Johnny and Tommy are reunited.
Whether it be for revenge or just a street title,
Young men are continuing The Cycle.

Prayer of a Desperate Soul

They teach me here on earth
that after life of living flesh
one of three places I shall go to
Heaven or hell or purgatory
Lord listen to me kindly;
If I do not fit in any of the three
and I find life there dangerous
could you allow me another choice
a place of three in one , one in three
partly paradise, partly hell
and partly purgatory
I enjoy happiness in heaven for a while
go for hard labor in hell for some time
and for tourism, I go to Purgatory
there I am sure to meet some relatives
some friends and even my pastors
I am certain life will be interesting
that You created us to enjoy life

In the Need of Prayer

There are many of our friends and families who are no longer with us this day
So in the name of Jesus for them we will pray
We reach towards the hands of God, the Lord and master of our lives
We worship Him and praise Him in His son's name, The Lord Jesus Christ
We look up to His face, we look up to His eyes
We honor HIm today, we glorify Him who lives up high
How excellent Is your name oh Lord down here on earth
We magnify your presence, we place you first
We stand before you today oh Lord In the Need of Prayer

We come to you oh Lord as adopted sons and daughters
Exalting your name like all good children ought of
An whenever the seasons of life happen to intercede
We come to you Father God with our hands stretched out in need
We trust in you completely and thank you for all that you have done
Our hands in supplications because of the sacrifice of your son
Forgive us for our guilty feelings, our doubts and all of our fears
Remove the iniquity form our hearts, a burden we no longer wish to bear
We stand before you once again oh Lord In the Need of Prayer

Let your son's blood cover us and give us the breath of life
In the name of Jesus, the Kingdom that is Christ
Who died for our wholeness, who died for our sins
We thank you for the salvation and to be back in your good graces once again
By the covenant of the blood that was shed on Mount Calvary
On the crown and on the cross for all humanity to see
We stand before you this day oh Lord in the Need of Prayer

In the Battlefield

In the Battlefield

Im in the middle of the battlefield trying to keep my nerve, dodging the bullets with every swerve. I clench the cross around my neck i send up a prayer before i hit the deck. They just keep coming wave after wave, my life is with God my soul to save. The battle rages every night, I cover my ears to drown out the fight; I see all the bodies what a horrible a sight! My brothers and sisters there they lie dead, i can't bear the the thought of the blood that's been shed. We fight every day for you to be free, I want you to know this i want you to see.

To the veterans of war and those currently in one, thank you very much for your service to this country, and to those who didn't make it home, you did not die for nothing you will aways be remembered.

A Poet's Prayer

Oh God, omnipotent thou art
Accept this poet's humble prayer
Because thou art almighty
And ever present in my life.

You are there whenI need you
And like a hound you follow me
Wherever I goest.
When I stray, you call me back.

There is no escaping from your love.
Your love is eternal and endless.
More than what infinity means.
More than everlastingness.

You are the source of inspiration
An eternal muse that beautifies
My world, a world of limitation
I cannot grasp.

But you are there always for me
And oftentimes I cannot see
But faithfully I come to you
For hope and inspiration too.
