Will Shepard

The day Will Shepard shot my dog
His barn burned to the soil;
The flames licked at the Autumn sky,
The smoke as black as oil.
I dropped the torch onto the earth,
And felt the whole world turn,
I stood and watched Will Shepard’s barn,
I stood and watched it burn.

The day Will Shepard shot my dog
I set his horses free,
They galloped over grass and sand,
They galloped to the sea;
I dropped my whip onto the floor
And thoughts turned to my gun
I stood and watched Will Shepard’s herd,
I stood and watched them run.

The day Will Shepard shot my dog
I put him in the ground,
My bullets found his heart and brain,
He fell without a sound;
And as his lifeblood ebbed away
And light fled from his eyes,
I stood and watched Will Shepard leave,
I stood and watched him die.

And now I sit here in my cell
And through the bars I spy
The carpenter with wood and nails,
Who builds my gallows high;
My vengeance has been satisfied
As far as I can see,
For that old dog Will Shepard shot
Meant all the world to me.

The Cowboy's Life

As the pastel moon rises across the midnight blue a lone wolf’s dark silhouette appears into view his boast is known from Cowboy to prairie dog fore this is the night chill that turns to morning fog the early dawn is thawed by a piping hot cup o’ Joe No time to waste, just a few days brings first snow Such is the Cowboy’s life on the cattle drive

This is me

My knees were the things that
kept me up and my skin is my
cutting board my eyes are the
rain clouds to the fire running
down my arms and my heart is
the fire place that keeps me
burning so calm

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?

Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.

And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.

I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.

Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.

And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.

An Ellice Island - In search of KindRed Soul

Long miles of tedious journey,
Missing my darling honey.
Travelling impatiently, spend thousands of
Hope god will bless me with ma lucky soul
at this season.

Equatorial island exploring its amazed
beauty, glittering with immersed grasses.
Wrapped by queens necklaced small lake
aside, at the outskirts of dalhousie.
My heart dwelled into its god gifted
When the night lime lighted,
Millions of stars scattered around
charming moon.
As if its was a wondering boon.
Lucky enough for landing with my next

Eagerly waiting for my heart chaser,
Girl passed near by, few seconds later.
Flaming beauty mould my soul.
Topped with innocence, ready for my
auspicious goal.
Her chic appearance,
Her innocent appeal.
Strucking heart raised with high beats..
Awaited for our romantic date in ma
upcoming meet.

Frequency of our nature matched.
Stolen Eyes of each other were catched.
Strings of our heart whistled
Everything had happened miraclelously.
I rebelled the three precious words of
romantic dictionary.
Accepting my red rose, She blushed.

At event of recreation, campfire were
Nobody around us, private moments
between we two spotlighted.
Playing guitar, she sinked with every beat,
That's the coincidence our eyes again
Hand in hand danced with the soothing
romantic theme,
Sparkling smile on her face beamed.
Getting closer to her, because of her
fragranced cream.
Expecting the light around us to be dim.

The romantic moment again came,
Flaps of my soul opened for the grand
She looked too pretty in her gold lame
My heart awarded her an order of chivalry.
Don't know who are you, but baby you are
the one, I am in love.
You live in me, You are my love
I feel you in my heart,
You are my world, I just cant stay apart!

Please don't hesitate, please don't lie,
Whatever you feel, my heart can buy!
Angel of life, Its just you.
Completeness in life can't be without you.

Wanna Carry journey happily together.
Tickling nose, Queenly beauty of my white
Hold my senses, its caught by you.
Don't let be just memories, wanna feel
ecstasy of love towards you forever.
Promising to hold your hand throughout
life in this lovely weather.

Will be your shadow, because your pain
will be mine.
Its destiny that our heart clicked a
snapshot of each other's soul.
Stopping by my question, Will you marry
me, my Kindred Soul?

The pain I put in the ground.
For such a precious thing.
The family enjoys their meal.
They plant their leftover kernels.
And wait for me to tend to them.
An endless cycle in which happiness is born.

The Wild Snow

                                               The snow is twirling
                                               The snow is whirling
                                               The snow, The snow
                                               The snow is blowing
                                               The snow is going
                                               The snow, The snow
                                               The snow is flaking
                                               The snow is breaking
Not to soon but,one day at the stroke of noon
when the sun is in the middle of the sky
when it is not shy the sun will pop out from behind the clouds
and melt all the ice and snow
                                               The snow, The snow

Come and meet me under the Oak Tree

Walking along this long
and a lonely road
Completely flanked by tall trees
Blossoming with rich berries waiting to
be plucked
Blossoming with flowers waiting to
usher us into a new dawn
With sweet fragrance in the air and
colourful birds singing
With their soft and tender tones in the
cool hour of the day
Calling for a lone lost heart faraway in
the wood
Faraway in the wood, love comes calling

O my darling
Come and meet me under the oak tree
I have been waiting for you all day long
Now it is night
My heart is blazing with distress

In this cool afternoon, every bird sings
itself a love song
Every heart sings a new song
Every wing creature captures her likes
and soars away to the trees and
Every creeping creature religiously mate
beneath the earth before night falls
When darkness covers the beauty of

Walking down to the wood this dark
eerie night
Praying and waiting for you
Under the moonlight and the shade of
the oak tree
To present to you my beautiful flower
and sweet berry
That will usher us into a new dawn

O my darling
Come and meet me under the oak tree
I have been waiting for you all day long
Now it is night
My heart is blazing with distress

All night long my heart longs for you
Crickets rustle out your name
My pretty little Angel
My mouth cannot express what is
On the pages of my mind
How I long to kiss your soft and tender
How I long to be sheltered in your arms
when soft rain falls

I am thinking of you O gentle lady
I am thinking of your smiles- the smiles
of an Angel
I am thinking of your eyes- the eyes of a
goddess filled with the colours ofthe
I am thinking of your dark hair, long and
flowing like a fountain of water
I am thinking of your lips from which
lovely words flows

O my darling
Come and meet me under the oak tree
I have been waiting for you all day long
Now it is night
My heart is blazing with distress

Border's End

I did not drive the roan that day,
Just saddled up my old dark bay,
To check out fences far afield
And breathe in life with all its yield.

Near border’s end I came upon
A fresh, dead cow down by the pond.
I wondered why it had died here
With water and spring grass so near.

I spurred my horse and reined away
But something said that I should stay—
I creaked down from my saddle’s reach
And saw the cow had died in breech.

I knew they should be buried soon,
By light of day or dark of moon.
I left them there, that calf and cow
And rode back home in thought somehow.

I had forgot that scene of death
Till summer quickly took my breath
And once again I passed that shell
Of twisted skin and faded smell.

The worms had done their work it seems
On frenzied flesh and faltered dreams.
Yet, still I stared like at a grave—
Thought how we took but seldom gave.

Then autumn came and tinted trees
With colors each low creature sees.
So on my horse I sought them out,
To answer what this life’s about.

A mute Madonna—sticks of bone,
Still nestled there so all alone.
We live and die, the season’s dawn,
We’re all breech born before we’re gone.

In winter’s wind the world turns cold
As cow and calf and man grow old.
Yet, now there’s no sinew or hide
To hint of life or what’s inside.

Death’s passion passed and so did I
To pay respects and say goodbye.
For man and beast all die as kin—
I will not ride this trail again.

wind of change

Wild flower dance
upon the prairie.
and bustle
around the home.
Young boys
in the meadow
helping lay
the hay.
Women tending the home
as prepare
for seasons change.
Canning and storage
of all they raise.
Fields to plow
and sow
all before the snow.
Riding up into valley
so far away
to bring the herd home.
Cutting and chopping away
they ready themselves
for when the leaves blow away

The Deal

The storm clouds came rolling in across the autumn sky,
I was moved to dig a hole but didn’t know just why.

And as I finished squarin’ up the hole the rain came pouring down,
If someone were to fall in it there’s chance that they could drown.

Just about then an Indian on a horse approached me from the back,
The brave promised me a ten dollar coin if I’d bury his gunny sack.

What’s in the gunny? I asked of him before reaching for the coin,
The face he made was just as if I’d kicked him in his tender loin.

He hesitated for a minute and then said that it was totem pole,
He told me that it would fit perfectly inside my fresh dug hole.

It didn’t take me long to take the deal the hardest part was done,
I’d cover it up then ride into town for ten dollars worth of fun.

Then he lit out like a man possessed and it made me stop to think,
And his ghostly howls as he rode away made me thirsty for a drink?

So I looked inside the gunny sack and understood why I’d dug a grave,
Because the totem that I found inside was the body of the brave.

Autumn Rose

A star shines above songs of frogs
Summer has ended thrown to dogs
Fields brilliant shades orange brown gold
Lavender faded flowers fold

Barbed-wire fence post soaking dew
morning mist burned away by sunlight hue
crickets chirp among the row of fir
waiting for night to sing their verse

bend of creek where waters turn
small rapids which fail much churn
nostalgic ghosts of times untold
last of rose petals hold

soothing noon sun will to shine
hills bearing wheat and hay to bind
find me there nestled sweet
well rested still from head to feet

Autumn Cowboy

The cowboy in cascading leaves has lingered much too long,
As he sings amid red and gold, summer’s last dying song.
The sky is clear and blue this day, but change is in the air—
Far mountains shine with crisp, white caps and blow cold wind through hair.

He softly spurs dreams into a stampede of falling leaves—
Wishing that the best of worlds would bring bad men to their knees.
He turns his horse to the north and heads for that old line shack—
Hoping that the larder’s full and come spring he’ll be riding back.

He trails sweet salmon sunset as brass leaves rustle the breeze—
Far sky melts to shining white as snow is held back by trees.
He knows hard winter’s coming, its cold silver slides in fast—
For a time he savors summer, knowing good things don’t last.

The cowboy in cascading leaves has lingered much too long,
As he sings amid red and gold, summer’s last dying song.

The Brothers Shirt

Long sleeve wool with working buttons clean not a mustard stain on it multi-
colored autumn hue lines not squares working buttons everywhere He said
[without looking directly at it] “what what is it?”
Just like a brother would no want is needed. Eye reported “is this yours?” Yes he
said “what is it?” Eye did not wait for more certain that he was a lie become. He
finally said “OH that is a jacket but eye already had it in my hand, convinced now
the thing was not his at all.
He said it does not fit me well it is too small for me you may have it my little man.
And eye recall his every word and gesture sure now deep inside of me he never
had the shirt at all. Now eye am not a thief the shirt is on my back and justice has
prevailed the rain will make it smell. We both were incorrected. But eye at least
am not in need of jails correctness. The shirt will look so fine in places that eye
visit in my mind. The Brother eye am sure he smells in his tee shirt divine.
