Rose you were such a wise lady and a wonderful friend I continued to visit you almost to the bitter end Other friends abandoned you because you were so frail But I continued visit and see your cheeks pinched and pale How I miss our chats, we’d eat biscuits and drink tea You were such a wonderful friend to me You gave me a hydrangea, its flowers a pretty blue So never a day passes when I don’t think of you If we could meet again for one more day We’d share the gossip and laugh our cares away I’ll never forget when you taught me to line dance Prancing around your lounge to songs of sweet romance You practiced reiki and spiritual healing You’d help me with issues that I was concealing I remember that Christmas party, you dressed as a Christmas pud You had me in hysterics the costume you made was oh so good Breast cancer stole you away and bitter tears I cried For we were away on holiday at the time you died Your anniversary gift in our garden still grows I think of you every day my lovely friend Rose Contest - Just one more day Sponsored by Laura Loo 12~12~15

True Friendship

 ~True Friendship~

True friends are really a treasure so rare
There are not many like that who really cares.

If you happen to have one exactly like that
Be happy you got lucky,so toss high your hat.

Real friends wish to share everything with you, laughter and tears
And like finest wine they just get better all throughout the years.

They will be loyal, honest and true no matter what you may go through
A true friend will not hurt you on purpose and she always care for you.

There are not many good friends around like this they're hard to find
Better just have one true than maybe dozens that are untrue and fake in kind.

So if you already have a true friend consider yourself very lucky everyday
And treat well that friend with all the love and respect that(she or he)deserves all way.

- Universe Of God -

When the morning sun dawns
Plant a seed for the optimism and the future

You may soon see the change happen
A change that provides physical and spiritual sustenance

A seed can change the world
In the fantastic universe of God

Plant fragrant flowers like lavender to create a relaxing atmosphere
There will be no doubt that you give them from your heart

The Soul Fish

Down onto the sunny - but - windless beach one day . . .
My grandfather and I on the water’s edge we stayed . . .

The gentle ebb of the waters flow - in and out - it goes . . .
Lapping with delightfully sensation between my toes . . .

Just at the water’s edge - very faintly you could just see . . .
A very flat sole fish - just waiting - and looking at me . . .

My Grandfather - told me - to this fish we must respect . . .
For inside this sole fish - a dead departed soul was kept . . .

I looked at the fish - the very flat sole fish looked at me . . .
And in its eyes - the soul of a departed - looking at me . . .

Now my Grandfather has departed - and I am bereft . . .
For the heartfelt message just for me - he never left . . .

Now with each day - it is down to the water’s edge I go . . .
There waiting for my beloved Grandfather’s soul to show . . .

This Empty Guitar

A black Stetson waits in your chair
Dust now follows sunbeams in the air

Life's lessons remain in this place
Death's reach can't erase your face

Smoke rings and laughter linger here
Ghostly melodies drift where they dare

Distant guitar strings echo and cry
Trapped, untouched now...where they lie

A bird's song gets lost in the breeze
Love's magic...fades in dreams

Songs we sang before, haven't changed
Souls however, seem re-arranged

Oh, won't you please join me again
Let your wondrous music begin

This empty guitar and silence...an odd pair
A black Stetson waits in your chair

Beautiful Masterpiece (Tribute to Elaine George's "Violin")

As I read the words my heart started to sing
For you had gave emotion to a non living thing

I can't ever remember feeling quite that way
I could hear the music that she used to play

I could feel her heart through the tears I cried
As I read the part where her Maestro had died

I imagined her there in her Rosewood Bed
Reading the most beautiful poem I’ve read

Velvet to her back with her bow at her side
Remembering the joy before Maestro died

She loved how his bow manipulated her strings
Together they were the most beautiful of things

What’s the only poem to ever hang in my den?
Elaine’s beautiful masterpiece titled, "Violin"

Inspired by Tracy's wonderful idea for
a contest and Elaine's beautiful Poem.

The Darkness at Noon

The Darkness at Noon

Taps - echo hollowly
over the grey stones,

acrid odor of gunpowder
stings all memory,

flag, creased, folded,

A last salute.
A darkness at noon.

Silence Befalls This Home Now

Looking through the bookshelves - a homemade book he chose . . .
Trapped within the forgotten pages - he came upon a red rose . . .

Flatten down with care - faded in colour - more so in its scent . . .
Memories such of a time - so long ago - to himself only it lent . . .

It came from a happy home - a home cherished - all with love . . .
Every crevice packed with loving items - fitting all like a glove . . .

A garden full of noises - the song birds they did forever sing . . .
And on these evenings roll scents from the flowers often ling . . .

All crafted by a man to perfection - made to the one he loved . . .
As no other person - nor idol - to his love - did he set above . . .

There was nothing he would not do - to him a toll well spent . . .
To share with his fair maiden - who was to him - heaven sent . . .

Their home a range of seductive aromas - a good woman baked . . .
The scent of fresh green grass - cut - he meaningful then raked . . .

A garden and a home - once filled with laughing children galore . . .
With hollow sadness wasn't that some sixty five years or more . . . ?

Silence - befalls this home now - bare - the creaking of the gate . . .
No more idle down song birds - as the evening draws to its fate . . .

The old man - restful in his chair - the book between his hands . . .
Memories forgotten - now remembered - now fully understands . . .

His weary sunken eyes closing - they are about to open no more . . .
Over the roof top and beyond the chestnut trees - a spirit soars . . .

No more idle down song birds - as this evening draws to its fate . . .
Silence - befalls this home now - bare - the creaking of the gate . . .

Violin Virtuoso

When he played his violin magic took place!
A sense of serenity shown on his face.

A lover of music so gifted in art...
A teacher to many, known for his sweet heart.

Poetry would become his passion, his need...
A master of poetry in the words that he freed.

The strings are now quiet with music no more.
Still students recall the teacher they adore.

His words we can cherish with fond memories...
A legacy of gems for new reveries.

P B and J

When I think of famous duos, these two come to mind
No, it's not two lovers , nothing of the kind

No famous stars strolling down a red carpet walk
Reporters following them, hoping for tomorrow's gossip talk

But they've been around to feed us a quick meal in a bind
Or to eat just for fun and they come in more than one kind

First those two fresh pieces of white wonder bread
Creamy peanut butter onto each one is carefully spread

Next choose the jelly - grape is usually mine
But there is also strawberry, apple and many others are fine

Put it all together with jelly dripping down your chin
A big glass of cold milk, let the feast begin!

Yes, I think this duo is one worth the mention
Although, it might not get all that very much attention

What A Friend Should Be (A tribute to John Barns)

My friend John Barnes is as special as can be.
When it comes to friends God sure blessed me.

There are some things we lose, while others we win.
Some games we play lead us into sin.

I’ve have been lucky enough without any doubt.
I have a friend who always helps me out.

He drove across the state to find me on the roam.
Said, “get into the car I’m taking you home.”

He never once asked for a thing or questioned me.
I reckon that’s how a good friend should be.

We worked together off and on, our entire life.
I’m on number eight, John’s with the same wife.

John and Lisa have most certainly had their fights.
In the end they always do what is right.

Work it out, stay together, never giving up.
Realizing they already have a full cup.

They have raised all their kids, which should include me.
I reckon that’s how a parent should be.

John’s not really my dad but he is my brother.
He’s a friend to the end like no other.

A perfect example of what a friend should be.
That’s what John Barnes has always been for me.

From the start of the game to the end of the show,
John’s been the friend who has never let go.

He has stood by my side through thick and thin.
I’m very proud to be a friend to him.

Through the love of my friend I was able to see.
This is exactly what a friend should be.

You guys know that twinkle that you see in a star.
When it comes to life that’s what good friends are.

John Barn's is my best friend. Him and I met in the Oilfields outside
of Bakersfield where he still resides. We worked together on many
different jobs together over the years operating heavy equipment. I
reckon I was about 20 years old when I first met John and Lisa, his
wife. I haven't had 8 wives but I have 3 had wives and 5 significant
others during the time we have all known each other. I'm very lucky,
as well as, very proud to have had them in my life. We may not be
blood but we are family. Several times in my life they have opened
their home and helped me. Never asking for a thing or questioning my
behavior. Of course, them I would never disrespect. Not even in my worst
days. In fact, I never was a disrespectful or rude person. I just had bad
habits. I wrote this in honor of them but it is how I feel about all of my
friends. You guys all shine in my eyes. God Bless, mj

Tribute to Tommy Cat

Oh Tommy cat, precious little guy,
You knew we came to say good-bye.

Our hands reached out to stroke your fur.
We all knew what would soon occur,

That you would have a lasting sleep,
And in our hearts your love we'd keep.

For fourteen years you were at home,
Brought joy and love where you did roam,

Waiting to greet us at the door
As soon as our feet touched the floor.

Oh yes, how we felt your sweet love,
And soon you'll watch us from above.

They laid you in my arms until
That shot relieved you of your will.

Still, in in my arms, you lay asleep,
Kitty heaven where angels keep.

I asked my aunt who loved cats so
To come to greet you when you go.

She heard me, this is how I know.
Overhead was a huge rainbow. . !

Cactus Heart

You would assume I am thirsty in this dire heat,
Or that my needles would cause others to quickly retreat,
You would conclude that my flowers were only for show
Or that if someone didn’t water me I would never grow,
But what you don’t see in plain eye sight
Is that I am flourishing with waters of integrity and might,
Under these thorns you call choked up defenses
Breeds the strength to survive all forms and pretenses,
To you I require little maintenance… but I know better,
I know how to absorb all I need in good and bad weather,
For I was strategically placed in this atmosphere,
All I need dwells in my structure enabling me to stay clear
Of beasts that lurk when sandstorms arise,
When mirages start to mesmerize,
When signs and wonders appear in fallen skies,
And soldiers forget to break ancient soul ties,
I stand my post and flaunt my spikes,
A cactus heart survives all flights.

Goodbye Granddad

Gravity pulls my tears into pools.
Im sinking in sorrow -emotional fuels.

Just turn back the time, I just want a moment.
To say goodbye once, to cherish and own it.

I loved my granddad - a man more than great.
Paired with my Granny as the perfect mate.

A montage of memories that rush my soul.
My eyes fill with tears, I'm losing control.

Just keep it together, it's what he would want.
They all say the same, but I stand in front.

Happiness swells, yet sadness prevails.
Like Christ on the cross, with hands full of nails.

Life has a reason, and death isn't treason.
-It's moving on up.. A lifetime's a season.

I look to the sky and say my goodbye.
The time won't turn back, I gave it a try.

I close my eyes and imagine this-
Paradise in a place full of bliss.

World peace in a piece of the world.
Without loss and bombs never hurled.

Snow that falls that doesn't freeze.
Sun that shines that doesn't cease.

A land where "The forever" is real.
A scene where the sick always heal.

Life with infinite love, like gusts in the wind.
Two little doves, with eternities to spend.

God has a plan, fool-proof to the core.
Now Granddad's with him, a reward of much more.

-Yours Truly

A song came on the jukebox and we listened with intent
He sang "Only The Lonely" with a voice that was heaven sent
I was only in eighth grade, a few years from being a man
There was "Blue Angel" and "I'm Hurtin' " and I became a die hard fan
We'd go downtown to the Coffee Cup to hang out and have some fun
Play some music and have a soda, "Running Scared" was number one
"Crying" is still a favorite, played "Candy Man" and "Dream Baby" so loud
I was mesmerized the first time I heard Roy Orbison sing "The Crowd"
There was "Evergreen", Working For The Man" and "Leah" in the year of 62
"In Dreams" , "Falling" , "Distant Drums" and I still love "Blue Bayou"
Roy rocked the house with "Mean Woman Blues"
"What'd I Say" made us put on our dancing shoes
"Indian Summer", "Indian Wedding", "She Wears My Ring"
"Oh Pretty Woman", "It's Over", "Goodnight" Roy would sing
When Roy sang "Lana" it would tear you apart
Don't forget "Breakin' Up is Breakin' My Heart"
When Roy sang, you didn't know which song to choose
He'd make you rock, make you cry, make you feel the blues
When Roy sang, he'd put a smile on your face
When Roy sang, the world seemed a better place.

Tribute to the greatest, bar none, singer song writer of all time.

A Tribute To My Sister

I had a little sister
Who grew up to be my friend
I thought we'd always be together
Until the very end
We shared so many memories
Of times we were young and carefree
Even though she is no longer here
She'll always be with me
Day after day year after year
I will always remember her with a whole lot of laughter
And few little tears

Hey girl, what's up?
just called to check on you,
Cuz when you're part of the sisterhood ,
that's what sisters do!

Be times good, or be times bad,
rather you woke up happy,
or rather you woke up mad,

A sister will listen,
she doesn't always give advice,
she's thoughtful in her responses,
thinking it over twice.

Night or day,
it really doesn't matter,
she'll say girl, let's have some ice cream ,
and get a little fatter.

Be it the kids, the husband,
the job, or another issue,
sisters sit down and grab a box of tissue.

What I have is yours,
and what you have is mine.
Have you ever seen three sisters,
share a single dime?

Well as sisters, that's what we do,
I wouldn't say it ,
If I knew it were not true.

In the sisterhood,
We leave the crabbing, the backstabbing, and
vindictiveness behind.
For it takes too much effort,
and we have too little time!

So sisters,
Let's build each other up,
not tear each other down,
Let's greet one another with a smile,
and forego the nasty frown.

Each one teach one,
is what I say,
let's make empowerment the word of the day!

Let's promote the positive,
or say nothing at all.
Let's lift each other up,
not make each other fall.

Let's be truthful, thoughtful,
and prayerful of each other.
Let's strive to take each other,
just a little bit further.

I'm brown, your tan, she's dark, she's light,
One sister is Puerto Rican,
and the other sister is white.

Our complexion, our race, doesn't play a part,
because the sisterhood, cares not about color,
or status, it's all about your heart!

We won't always see eye to eye,
or always agree,
but I've got you girl,
and I know you've got me!

Storms may come,
but we weather them together,
trying to stay dry,
beneath one umbrella!

So ladies,
When things are bad,
and you can find no good,
there is always comfort to be found ,
in the sisterhood!

As women, we are often misunderstood,
So ladies,
I thank you, for promoting sisterhood!

A Tribute to Jack Russel

He was graced with long life as the work he required,
A present flame, aft he retired,
He deepened the souls that sat before him,
And made them express with written decorum.
He read their assignments with special attention
That challenged and called forth youth's finest rendition.
He opened the door to a life well read,
His students entangled in Baalat's web.

Gazing back through the specularium of time
One saw an intellect so immensely fine
That it slightly abashed those of higher grade,
His light joining their lights where others fade.
Moving on one lingered a bit in the past,
Still meeting challenges from his intellect, so vast.
That it scarce was contained
In the role for him framed.

His soul now borne upon the Stygian Lake
Leaves proper grammar trailing in its wake;
This gentle muse vanished in the night,
The curtains closed, doused the light.
No need for stately obelisk oe'r his bier
To greet mournful pilgrims once a year;
For though he'll be long gone,
The phallic symbol, he loved so, lives on.

Sweet dreams are found, in the purple sheen
Of a lady's skin, where egg and seed convene

On the darkest night, or upon a foggy shore
Moon, stars guide you, to where Angels soar

Earths sky's the canvas, for thoughts to explore
Without obligatory words, you can create the decor

Find sweet dreams, passion and lust will overwhelm
Choose your words carefully, as your taking the helm

As you Paint your thoughts, in words, time can't erase
Bodies and souls will entwine, a willing lovers embrace

Moon sinks into earth's horizon, as your picture's seen
The formula for sweet dreams, is at the geometric mean

Don't Give Up

Don't give up, fight till the end
I'll be by your side, always a friend
We will be side by side till morning appears
We'll stand there for when, the victory cheers
We are the army of freedom, death we don't know
We will fight all the day, our banner will flow
We left behind a wife and a strong hearted son
Until this war is over, and victory we won
We have won this battle, the war has come
We will stand hard and strong and never shall run
So come on my brothers sing the victors song
If you don't know the words then just follow along
We are the army of freedom, death we don't know
We will fight all the day, our banner will flow
We left behind a wife and a strong hearted son
Until this war is over, and victory we won
Now remember me brothers death came to show
Please tell my wife and my son they should know
I gave up my life, but the war now is won
My time here has ended, and God knows I'm done
Just know I'll stand next to you until the morning appears
I'll hold up your rifle, and settle your fears
I'm right here beside you just as a friend
I'll stand next beside you until its the end

Two Sisters

Sister. No sweeter sounding word
Ever spoken. Ever heard

Two flowers growing on one tree
Bestowed with beauty equally

Two moonbeam smiles hand-in-hand
Secrets shared in fairyland

Younger shadow mirrors the older
Little girl tears on a big girl's shoulder

Lives diminished without your guidance
I am your sister, I carry your silence

Four pillars prevail, one father, one mother
I am one sister and you are the other

When a mother is lost It indicates the end of the most!

Is there anyone to replace? Or to assure you peace?

None! Not even the god! Or to get back, there is no method!

For god comes in the form of mother! To compare with her, there is no other!!

Soldier Eternal

Soldier eternal
Silently he watches the ships enter the docks
Silhoutted against the steel gray skies, the icy waters dash against the rocks.
Reverently his head bows for those who now rest
Solemnly, he salutes, the heart of a hero, beneath his chest.
Finally he reaches for the standard issue gun
Feet snap together, body poised, his duty is again begun.
He offers thanks to those who have fallen long ago
His departing steps are deliberate, steady and slow.
He knows his place is to help those who are in need of his care
Of the burdens of unfinished business, danger, and the task, he will share.
To protect God, Country and Family to his dying day,
Proudly, he will accept and endure the challenge, not wanting life, any other way.
