Lonely Dreams

I never knew following dreams could be this lonely,
But up on the hill, looking back, thank God I'm not the old me.
If the tears will fall, let them be;
I believe this is God's plan, follow your dreams.

The Hypocritical Christian

I am the hypocritical Christian.
I say I follow Christ,
But I'm still consumed by my demons.
I go to church on Sunday,
But I refuse to invite someone back.
I want to serve on mission,
But I'm too afraid to act.
They think I read The Bible,
But I just fall asleep in it.
They think I'm positivity and smiles,
But underneath I'm death and addictions.
They think I'm clean and pure,
But I'm broken and mistaken.
I say I'm not worthy of His love,
But Jesus will never let me be forsaken.
I pray long prayers,
But inside they're empty repetition.
It might look as if my faith is strong,
But my core is too easily shaken.
I say the things I'm supposed to say,
But don't follow His actions or obey.
I speak the truth the church wants to hear,
But deep inside on matters I don't know what to believe.
I walk in shame as if I'm not good enough
To be loved by God and saved through Christ,
But there is nothing I could ever do to earn His peace;
It's a free gift.
I accept;
Now forgiven, changed, and released.
Thank You God,
Thank You Jesus,
Thank You Holy Spirit!
In Jesus' Holy Name,
We pray,
Amen!

He's A Carpenter

Surrounded by various profession
Business, medicine, soldiership and education
It's heaven-sent and planned for Him to labour
To work manually with strength and effort
True hardships; entails a great man of honor

He picked up woods and tools to craft
From small drawers and tables to houses that will last
An impression of humility and expression of equality
Though He is reverence; a Saviour from heaven

Joseph was the adoptive father
Where His skill of carpentry originated
He worked night and day; perspired with pain
He asked of no demand and with no complain

The name is Jesus born in Betlehem
The only begotten son of our Father in heaven
He could have worked in another occupation
But chose to make a living from down-below

Carpenters make
Carpenters create
They take the common and make it something to consider
Equipped with right materials they bind things altogether
The reason-being, for us to know He's a builder

Don't you know that we're under construction?
Whenever our hearts broken and the world is all we know
When we pray and call, Jesus is at work
To fix us and forgive; improving mind and soul

No work is greater if hardwork is shared
Truly, Jesus had proven that a carpenter's noble
To help us build our dreams and make the world stronger
"In Him, all things hold together"'.

A Stranger After Dark

I was sitting on the back porch ‘bout an hour after dark When I couldn’t help but notice a tiny pulsing spark. I thought it was a firefly – It had that kind of glow But I’d never seen the likes of it – what it was I didn’t know It flittered to and fro just like a firefly does I went into the backyard to determine what it was. Just as I approached the place I thought that it might be It flew right up and landed very close to me. Soon I realized it was no ordinary find. What happened next you won’t believe – it nearly blew my mind. A Lilliputian creature stepped from this tiny craft Right then and there I was aware of questions I should ask. He must have been aware of the fear he’d caused in me. I could see my hands were shakin’ -- never thought I’d be set free. His tiny voice became quite clear and in a most convincing tone He said, “My friend, be not afraid – I‘m here all alone.” He appeared to be confused a bit and why, I’ll never know But the fear that he had fostered was about to let me go. He began to tell his story; I let out a sigh I knew I’d better listen to this little guy. Now, he was small in stature; ‘bout a half inch, nothin’ more – Why, I believe that he could pass through the space beneath the door. . He then began to tell me – It must sound like a dream. He was here because of some wayward sunbeam. “I race Haley’s comet to the far side of the sun.” He said, “The race is always over before it has begun. There is a reason for these victories, you see My good ship Omnipresence, right here in front of me.” “Time and space,” He said. “Are always at my command. I can do more things with them than man can understand.” He said, “I spin the rings of Saturn, create firmament at will I flew a mission of atonement to a very special hill.” I asked, “Do you know Jesus? He died upon that hill.” He said, “When all things are settled, everybody will. I led three wise men to him that cold and wintry night The shepherds were there to witness a miraculous sight So you ask do I know Jesus? -- it fills me with such mirth -- This very craft was hidden there at the moment of His birth. I was there to hear the angels when they sang out on high. Yes, I’d say I know Jesus, That’s why I’ll never die.” Written By John Posey 12/18/12

Mary Magdalene

One summer eve in Galilee
I stood before my open door;
to me it seemed just one more night--
like all the others gone before.
Someone would come and, passing by,
would hear the tinkling of the bells,
would see the garish harlot's robe
and painted eyes beneath my veil.
Someone, a man like all the rest--
it did not matter much to me--
a nobleman, Samaritan,
a Roman or a Pharisee,
someone would pause and with one glance
strip me again of maiden pride,
and leaving, later, never know
the shame and shattered dreams I hide.
O, he would think me very gay;
he would not see my hollow heart
nor hear me curse him for his pay.
Just then I saw a band of men
approaching down the narrow road;
there should be one among that crowd
aho wants the favors I bestow.
Kind eyes met mine, and with one look,
He saw what others could not see;
He saw the hunger of my soul,
my loneliness and misery.

I only know that since that day
I live to walk along with Him.
His look of love has changed my life;
I need not sell my love again.
Tonight He dines at Simon's house__
all day the dusty paths we roamed;
but, still he waits, unwashed, unkissed;
small courtesies no one has shown.
My love for Him! It rolls and swells
till from His side I cannot stay;
I will wash His feet with tears of love
and with my hair wipe the sand away.

Ask The Lord's Forgiveness

All the things we are on earth-
And all the things we're not.
All the times we've hurt our Lord,
By word and deed and thought.

All the days we've made Him sad,
Through hateful acts of spite.
We need step back a pace or two
And make the bad things right.

For heaven's not that far away-
Could be . . just round the bend.
And none of us can ever know
The moment of our end.

Be grateful for the blessings
He's bestowed on you this while.
Offer thanks by honoring Him,
In ways that make Him smile.

Ask for His forgiveness
For the times you hurt Him so.
Accept the blood He shed for you
Before your time to go.

Our days are but a platform,
Where we stage the life to come.
Thus all the joys of heaven
Are not there for everyone.

So bid the Lord come to your door
And then invite Him in.
Ask His grace as you confess
To all your earthly sins.

He will know what's in your heart
And if you are sincere . .
You'll have your place in Heaven
And dispel death’s dread and fear.

Money

Money money, ringing in your tills,
Calling us to worship,
The hundred dollar bills.
Bend our knees in wonder,
Bow our heads in awe,
At the power of the liar,
Who now controls us all.
From the darkest deep caverns,
To the stars in the sky,
From the infinite universe,
To the strangers passing by.

From your inner most conviction,
To your laughing in the night,
From everything you 're seeing,
To everything out of sight.

The new God has risen,
To claim the holy throne,
The one that we have emptied,
Our hearts all cold as stone.

The throne that we have emptied,
We killed the rightful king,
Sold his crown an sceptre,
Pawned his sacred ring.

Raised his bleeding body,
Up on that bloody hill,
The silent lamb still bleeding,
As the money fills your tills.

Our Limited Understanding

What did he mean
when he said
turn the other cheek?
Does it mean
violence isn't the answer
and peace is always the way?

Is it to deny the natural
carnal response?
To challenge the older laws
that have long been ensconced?

Maybe it's a come on
to the ungodly
"Give me what you got
I have no need to be afraid."
Maybe he meant
our bones are fragile
but our hope is not?
It shall never rust nor decay.

Surely a punch in the face
is no threat to one's life.
If a man put a gun to your wife
would you just let her die??

(surely life is precious
but God have mercy
should it come to this)

Should we cast down our weapons,
trade them for pruning hooks?
Is that what Jesus meant?
Or perhaps, maybe,
it begs you to take a deeper look.
and gaze at the wisdom God has sent.

Does it not surely mean that hatred
can't be snuffed out
by more hatred?
There are many trials we go through
but one thing we must know
is that love should always be sacred.

When he stated
Ye are the Light of the World
does that not imply
that the world itself is DARKNESS?
It's a gloomy forbidding place
with many pricks and thorns:
why add to the harshness?

For now it seems
we see through a glass darkly.
Having trouble deciphering
the passages and what they meant.
What about Romans 13
where it says, Execute vengeance
against those who do evil?
To whom is it referring
and to what extent?

Our limited understanding
leaves us grounded.

NOTE: This was written in response (and inspiration) to Liam McDaid's poem titled Thou Shalt Not Kill. It's a very fascinating topic, and one where I don't quite have answers...

God of Light

God of Light

I awaken
In the dark of night,
And face my lord
The God of Light

Who guides me
Thru the haze of pain,
And takes on him
My guilt and shame

My comfort
As he takes my hand,
And shows me
How to rise and stand

Sinless, blameless
Once again,
Because He chose
To call me friend

A wretched man
Though I may be,
He offers fellowship
To me

I lay no claim
To being just,
He gives me grace
In trade for trust

Impossible
For any man,
Without the mercy
Of “I Am”

The song of God
Is in my ear,
Calming each
And every fear

He sings
His weary child to sleep
This loving shepherd
To his sheep

Protected from
All earthly harm
As I slumber
In his arms

No longer frightened
By the night
My father
Is the God of Light

Witness and Behold the End

White Lilies,
Scattered on the ground,
Out of their element.
Witness,
Purity,
Deprived of its origin.
Behold,
Clarity no longer visible.

White Roses,
In the purest snow,
Frozen to the core.
Witness,
Loveliness,
Stripped away so rash.
Behold,
Beauty destroyed.

White flowers,
All around,
Trampled into dust.
Witness,
Wildness,
Stolen without knowledge.
Behold,
Endless death fighting to prevail.

War Mentality

They come from a different era
where patriotism is a just cause
they would fight for the true blue
never mind who was right or wrong

they stood staunch and egos proud
their chest out, backs straight and chins up
they come from an old style of thinking
I fight today as my father and grandfather did too.

fighting for an eye for an eye tooth for a tooth
I will die to serve my country even if its a lie
if you try to invade our land
we will come and conquer you

we are defenders of the truth
but the old timers forget
and the young ones have a narrow point of view
there was a time when the immigrants were Irish, Italians and jews

racism was rampant and that hasn't changed
Christians today still preach
'Jesus is savior they say repent your evil ways
pushing their rhetoric just like the roman empire did

amazingly America seems to be doing the same
history seems to repeat itself time and time again
war, religion, oil and what we perceive as freedom
we invade again and again and call it defending democracy

yet the intelligence comes from spies and other governments
because they have shared interests in different types of policy
they all carefully choose their words
because one slip of the lip could trigger war as it has happened before

todays war on terrorism is a campaign designed to instill pain
and un-trust to drain our resources from us
And our leader claimed up front this is not a religious war
yet he paraphrases from the bible we'll get those evil doers

you see bush fooled our religious leaders too.
he used their belief in Jesus he tricked 'em all just to get their vote
he claims he's a born again Christian and this Christians embraced him holly
but then one day bush spoke to Jesus and asked what to do with Iraq

Jesus responded Invade that country
Now dont get me wrong Jesus was not about war
he taught of peace, love and compassion
however his message has been twisted and turned over time

and history shows the hands of Christian religious leaders are always bloody
because they twist the truth to control dictatorship is always the goal
Bush had been plaining war before a judge handed him the seat
on his first day he signed a bill into law prevent any criminal charges against him

Lord, I've Been Hurting

Lord., I've Been Hurting!

This one thing I am
 most certain…
Lately I’ve been really hurtin’.

I trying to do right, but it
turns out “wrong.”
Where, in life,
do I really belong?

So many people
 pass me by.
Sometimes, someone
may say; “hi!”

I don’t know if this message is
 getting across?
I feel so confused and
completely lost.

A message of “help” has my
 prayer and plea…
For God to reach out to me!

He reached down and
made me whole!
HIS love and compassion
 filled my soul!

Spending time with Jesus
 is time well spent!
It was for you and me that
Jesus was sent!

Said, "Look my friends,
Look at the child!"

I did behold the vision
one like a daughter of man
singing before the armies of heaven

I did hear what the seven thunders said
said they put on your war robe LORD and go
then go and cleanse the earth with your sword

How I Need Jesus

Dear Jesus… I realize
how much I really need you!
  I want to honor,
love and trust you!

I know that others will
disappoint me…
I know that you’re here….
And will take care of me!

  Your principles of holy
living is what you taught!
Love, Joy and peace…
is what you brought!

 May I bring honor
 to your name!
Your message of salvation,
I need to proclaim!

Dear Jesus… You’re all I need!
 And so much more!
It’s you that my life
was meant for!

I offer to you, my lord,
praise and thanksgiving!
For all you’ve done,
 And the life you’re giving!

You all I’ll ever need!
The anointed one!
There’s victory in YOU!
Life’s battles are won!

The Flight

I awake to the dawning of another day
To my knees, I kneel and begin to pray
This prayer is different unlike any before
All of the sudden a sound outside my door

Upon my feet, I run down the stairs
I open the door, is anyone there
Nothing to be seen, all grows still
Dark clouds gather, the sky is filled

As a dark overcast, shadows the day,
Not a hint of light, not one sun ray
All of the sudden what do I hear
The sound of a trumpet echoed my ear

From the distance came a great shout
Graves burst open with spirits in route
The dead in Christ have begun to rise
As legions of souls take over the sky

All of the sudden my feet left the floor
As my body floated up and away from the door
All that I held heavy has become so light
The day has come, I am taking my flight

I look to the left, I look to the right
Family and friends taking their flight
I look beneath, and what do I see
People screaming, falling to their knees

All of the sudden planes fall from the sky
Death comes to many in the blink of an eye
Cars missing drivers, as they flip and flop
Trains without conductors, refusing to stop

Children in search of their missing mother
Wait some are even missing their father
Sisters and brothers, where have they gone
Many seemed to be stranded and all alone

Screams cease, the chaos no longer I see
Flying through the Heavens, I have been set free
All memories of lost loved ones have been erased
As I stand and look upon my redeemer's face

I stand before him in a robe of white
As His appearance shines with glorious light
He opens the book and judges us each
Our crown sits before us just out of reach

Judged by our works, each jewel is placed
The numbers vary due to our spiritual race
Did we strive with our best, was the battle long
Did we sit in fear and refuse to stand strong

Did we testify to a wicked and dying world
Did we share the truth, God's holy word
Did we preach the sermon, Jesus is the way
Did we allow our fear to silence our say

Did we stand alone for God at all cost
On our knees did we pray enough for the lost
Did the choices in our life, glorify His Son
Did we turn our backs to His truth and run

Every crown tells it's own story
Each stone representing God's glory
Some with many, some with few
Our reward given as it was due

With our reward placed upon our head
We are now redeemed from among the dead
We no longer have to watch and wait
As our feet step inside the eastern gate

As I look up, what does my eyes behold
Mansions grand and streets of pure gold
Is that grandma and grandpa, I look to see
Their arms opened wide running toward me

Oh how I have missed them, it has been too long
As the choir in Heaven, plays redemptions song
Angels guided us to a throne so bright
The holy seat of God, what a beautiful sight

Angels surrounded the throne shouting holy holy
As the souls in Heaven praised God with much joy
I stood before the throne amazed and in awe
Energized and transformed by the greatness of God

His glory shines as Heavens only light
No nights, only days forever bright
No sin, no sickness, never to grow old
In the arms of loved ones forever to hold

No words can ever explain the beauty of Heaven
So much greater than my mind could ever imagine
Colors so vibrant, painted by God's own hand
Walls of precious stones surround the land

My eyes can't behold all there is to see
The greatness, the worth of this great city
Beneath the tree of life, I see my Jesus near
I run to Him, with joy and eyes filled with tears

I fell before Him, on bending knees
I thanked Him for all He has done for me
His arms extended, as He held me so tight
He spoke my child, you was worth the fight

We walked hand in hand along the crystal sea
Admiring all that He has prepared for me
Paradise in it's beauty, I will forever roam
With my Jesus, My Savior, I am finally home

Always to Be, My Little Girl

You came into my life twenty four years ago
Capturing my heart, Oh how I love you so
Your big brown eyes looking into mine
A precious gift from God, Heaven divine

Family and friends gathered in love
To welcome an angel from above
Your dad and I ecstatic to meet our little girl
A blessing forever to change our world

It is amazing how so much pain endured
Births a love so deep, so precious and pure
A love beyond meaning, none to compare
A love to protect at all cost, if harm should ever dare

After hours of anticipation, I heard a cry
The sweetest sound I know, my blessing had arrived
As they laid you in my arms, my heart skipped a beat
A moment in time, a moment to cherish, so bittersweet

The first night alone, just you and me
I held you for hours, rocking you so gently
That night is visited many times in my mind
For the first time I can remember, my life was defined

My call to be a mother created by God's precious hands
A moment in time to be still, a moment to stand
How you have influenced my life, in so may ways
Giving my life meaning, I was changed on that day

The years have flown by, time refused to stand still
Grown into adulthood, your dreams to fulfill.
Now you stand before, no longer my little girl
But an extraordinary woman, a heart so pure

I will always follow you throughout your life
On my knees in prayer, guiding you from strife
Standing on the sidelines, I promise to always be
Your number one fan, until eternity calls for me

When I am gone I pray you will remember
Just as the snow falls in late December
A blanket of white to cover the ground
Innocent and pure, you was my love profound

May God forever bless and guide my little girl
At the wheel of life may He always be at the stern
May your life be filled with great joy and much love
Someday to experience, as I, His blessing from above

When that day comes, life will bring new meaning
The love between mother and child, exceeds all thinking
Mountains you will move, forever to shield and protect
A love God entrusted in you, a love so perfect

Being my first, I made many mistakes
My love for you, I will never forsake
Not a day goes by, time can erase
When I held you in my arms, my heart you embraced

I thank God, unto me you was born
So much you have taught me, so much I have learned
I love you to the moon and back, you will always be
That perfect love, forever to change me

Inspired By In A Perfect World by Diane Christian

Once you do prefect,
It will then become perfect;
Part of perfection.

It must require a certain selection
Of things that appertain to perfection
If perfect is what we want to obtain
God will make us able to stand the strain.

What I have heard from latest scoop
Jesus won't want us to jump through hoop
Or constantly in circles walking around
He waits for us wanting to be found.

There may be many obstacles involved
But with God's help they will be dissolved
While in our prayers He is close and near
Ask and all of your sins will soon disappear.

Faith, hope and love together can alleviate
All sin and hopelessness so full of hate
God high in heaven will be walking there
To share with us His world beyond compare.

Battling Fear

What if fear made the event happen?
Wouldn’t we all…
…be attacked by great white sharks,
…die a slow agonizing death by spider bites,
…or be mutilated by sinister clowns?

What if fear made the event happen?
Wouldn’t we all…
…starve to death in a worldwide famine,
…be rejected by everyone we know,
…or standby helplessly as our loved ones contract diseases?

What if fear made the event happen?
Wouldn’t we all…
   …ward off those murderous thoughts,
…attack them with daggers of peace,
…and maintain a stupendously sound mind?

Let’s start right now.

Anna the Supermodel

Anna masters the art of true beauty,
starting with an undergarment of love,
then adding a chic skirt of unfettered joy,
and a sophisticated top made of pure goodness.
She accessorizes with edgy forbearance bangles,
and pulls off a glam look with sparkling heels of peace,
which is balanced with a down-to-earth faithfulness handbag,
What?!? Yes, she surprises us all by topping it off with a tiara of self control,
Yes, Anna, you have stepped out in a style no one can deny.

Why Would I Want To Be A Christian

Why would I want to be a Christian
First of all ask yourself why would you not
It can’t be because you want infinite pain and torture
That’s something that nobody wants

You can’t want to spend the rest of eternity
In the second death or Hell
The horrible things Satan holds in store
Is far worse than even the Bible can tell

But to be saved, and accept Jesus Christ
And have that feeling of joy as a Christian
To have that gift of eternal life above
There’s no better satisfaction

So keep in mind what God holds in store
A life eternal in that heavenly home
And think about what Satan offers
Eternal death for the non believers left all alone

Your Love Made The Difference

Jesus, Your love changed me
Your love made the difference
You loving me changed me
I’m not the same
I’ve been changed
I’m a new person
Changed from the inside out
Jesus, Your love changed me
Your love made the difference
You loving me changed me
I can pray for my enemies
I can turn the other cheek
Jesus, Your love changed me
Your love made the difference
You loving me changed me
I can love, love unconditionally
I can bless those who curse me
Although not always easy, I can do it
Yes, I can do it
Jesus, Your love changed me
Your love made the difference
You loving me changed me
Changed me from the inside out

Happy

John was as a free bird, happy,
Living his life, happy.
When others were sad John, happy,
When John did go no one, happy.
For life is not long at all,
And man is a shadow on a wall,
A wall of time.

John our dearly departing
Death will end his suffering.
Cruel death will do him a favor,
As he will carry him to his Savior.
Writing his will he creates the kiss of death;
This kiss marks him till his final breath.

Here comes a pale horse click, clack, click, clack
Upon it sits Death click, clack, click, clack.
Death rides down the street,
He stops, he looks
For the man with no heart beat,
He enters more silently than the best of crooks.

Death left while carrying John,
Got on his horse and carried on.
John is now in Heaven;
Where no heathen
Nor sickness roam,
Sitting by the white throne;
Walking on the streets of gold;
Never to become old.
Happy... Happy...
Eternally... Happy...

A Mother's Love

A Mother’s Love… How precious is the love of a mother’s heart! Even as a child… It’s there from the start. A mother’s love knows no boundary or limit. It’s often shown by how much the mother gives it! Whether her children are young or growing old… And whatever circumstances in life may unfold… Her love is continually a solid foundation… That can’t be removed, torn or shaken. Her love is what is a “guiding force…” Even if her children’s lives stray “off course.” I’m thankful for the love my mother’s given… It’s surely influenced the way I’ve been livin’! To all of our mothers across our great nation… May we show them our love and appreciation! Their love has stood and endured the test of time… I’m so glad that one of them is MINE! By Jim Pemberton
