stardom of the year
on its welcoming music
ushers our new dreams

culminate great task
snog the sweet and bitter past
cool somersault starts

blow New Year's trumpets
commence it with smiles and cheers
have a joyful year

                                 brand new calendar,
                           gate opens new beginning,
                                 the world celebrates.

                                 deep family bonding,
                        thick rice cakes and firecrackers,
                                 fire dragon dancing.

It's January

I rise from my sleep
looking outside my window
a tree stands leafless

Holding tight to life
each day's breath is heavier
each has a season

Strokes after midnight
received a distant sad news
a swallow has flown

Watch over us dear
I kept my prayers for you
frosted in flowers

January Haiku

January Dreams
woeful winds whistling, cold breath hoping for warm love - January sighs
like leaves trees tremble wearing thick blankets of snow - dream of summer sun

January Haiku

Frozen lakes and ponds
Blustery winds are blowing
Icicles hang down

Branches bare and grey
Poor sunshine does not warm us
Snowdrops raise their heads

            resolution time
 last year, waist did not decline
         this year less I’ll dine

the freeze is over
gods given up hot cocoa
all nature’s things weep

the freeze has ended
sun struck branches are dripping
nut hunt thaw is on

the freeze has ended
temperature 33
icicles crying

the freeze has ended
and foolish thoughts turn to spring
winter gods chuckle

Blue Eyes

The rain patters down
Sending goose bumps across flesh
My blue lips are numb

Her azure eyes shine
Like crystals catching the sun
Even in this rain

 My hide is soaked
It is on the line for her
The cold bite goes numb

Drawn in my jacket
Her eyes beaming at me
Blue eyed paradise.

                      Eleven months' wait,
                      Wannabee January ,
                       Youthful promising !

                          New resolutions,
                     Let not winter hibernate,

January  Two Perspectives

From his park bench bed
He hears bells chime in New Year.
Quiet desperation.

From her pavement tent
She peeps.  Harrods is open!
January sales!

Bamboo clusters sway
New year breeze hurls;
Tinctures of dawn

Magic moments thrill
Beginnings beckon;
A touch divine

Here in this room
Writes of a sort;
Colour sparks tints

Waiting upon words
Wit fondles pun;
Collect stray fragment

By park detour
Wet wooden benches;
Desolate feel

December died
In January rain;
Sadness wets well

My darling calls
Grocery shopping lists;
So much To-Do

Love wears a face
It's you my love;
My magic moment

Three decades old
You and I journey;
Starry starry night

Morning mystique
Sun on terrace;
Colours at play

Haiku strains
Zen garden charm;
Stillness funds beauty

Star Wars saga
The Force moves;
Good versus Evil

YinYang twist
Round in circles;
Opposites flirt

Jerky notes
Fumbling expressions;
Fleeting gains

January Bites

postman on his route
ice forms on his wet mustache…
    he longs for summer

she braves the harsh winds
to fish in January…
     her catch needs no ice

From my porch
Wrap up with extreme-cold weather clothing
The January sun bathes weakly through the early morning grounds
I seek alone by such astonished far-fat mountain-side
When some dared rabbits at burrow doorway gazing
Like a thief at the overheated clouds!
