My Thanksgiving Prayer

T	he God of our Fathers, sole author of all life
H	e, by decree placed man above the rest
A	nd all other creations in his charge for keeping
N	ow and forever, let your truths be written in our hearts
K	eeping man forever mindful of this high place
S	o with gratitude this special day is planned
G	iving thanks and praise to the one true King
I	n you alone our faith and trust will lie
V	alidate our hearts we do implore
I	nundate our lives with grace of light
N	ever turn away from our humble plea
G	ive us eyes to see and the ears to hear

D	ying, freely, you gave us life; by rising you gave us hope
A	ll your words and actions teach the ultimate truth
Y	our love alone holds our world in stead

FAITH IS A POWERFUL THING Faceless fears. Trials. they seize and drain whence one let them sink . . . Across our path are stormy hills and mountains that blocks. Interest should kindle one to stand as one must avoid being buried alive to sharp nails. Always wanting to escape, an angel's arm herald as a saviour, possibly to render an ounce of relief. . . Inked and embedded in my life are lots of struggles. Some moments then, I almost gone to losing my battle and sanity as even the persons I am holding onto seems to be blind and deaf. Persecuted without even some questions on hows and whys. Only I heard are nightmare words that seems even 'til now when they fly by to my remembrance, tears do flood eating my thoughts and freezing every muscle fiber, I have. Reasons I recall, some I understand but some I don't. Fueling me to search for something I need to hold onto. Unheard and Unseen but I so believe in one God above all Locking my thoughts as my life's key to His breathing words Trusting Him with my mind, my heart, my soul and my strength. I, Huntress not anymore of finding answers but rather in again redeeming myself to survive and handing all to Him. Nothing compares to His starlit immediate response to my prayers guaranteeing me firstfruit hope and the best blessings! _________________________ © 02:21 pm. January 09, 2015

For the Children

On the brow of manhood I bore you
Dreaming of a successor to my throne
Invested wind and echo full of dew
Native prince, that was ever all I own
Knowledge and experience to make
Wealth out of nothing, like stars do
Aggregating gas into a jewelled lake.

Knowledge with a good head figures
Images that can a kingdom shape
Youth has its dreams, age its rigors
Odinkwa, fears fang the will of escape
Study and apply your art to labor
Honest and committed to vision will
Increase the coffers when love stands still.

So Sriya, onto you now my fiery daughter
Rising where the comet falls still
I pray you will not tremble before the water
Yearning when you have razed the hill
Ancient customs cuddles more than laughter

Years of time against sweet logic tell
Undo the rope the boat will drift
Liberate the bird and its sorrows swell
Innate to love truth is a gift
Sweet lady, that parents give, and court
Singeing wrath for sublime praise
And yet, my love unaltered, holds to port.

Zealous as the wind, you my second girl
Only Pandora was more curious in the world
Yesterday you scared looking at the box
Answerless I stood, below the scraggy rocks

Keeping faith, while you were keeling away
Anxiety driven amidst the cloud of hawks
Matters not that you are sparrow, and the lay
Exultant echoes more worth in humble walks
Kameka, than in clouds to spin and play
Allow me then to invite you to the narrow way.

Anwar, none like you remind me more
Nature is wild and beauty pure, children
Will become the tree of parents seed, core
Analogies to anxieties riven and given
Rush not where the raging rapids churn.

Anwar Amilcar, I named you for heroes
Mentors of my boyhood hungering
Instead, looking parents' dreams as zeros
List your pack with the wild waves sundering
Crystals in lambent light fluttering bright
Against the temple post of blind desire
Ranking ego against the wood of spirit's fire.

Asante, my darling I shall always keep
Some prayer like a candle burning
As angels answering watch your fragile sleep
Nourishing your soul against fate's yearning
Tomorrow will today come to pass
Excellence is more than the image in a glass

Invite the soul to sit among the weak
Necessity has undone more than it has invented
Do not deny the heart its will to speak
Impress of wisdom to defend the tormented
Raise a standard, shelter them and reap
A blessing for their love, a joy to keep.

message in an acrostic contest

Show me which path I should tread
How I should choose the books to read
Oh how I miss my parents guiding hands
With so many things I need to understand

Mighty is the sword that catches you unaware
Each thrust sends home the visions you fear

Trust in yourself, your very act of living
How you help others, to the art of forgiving
Every day you perceive all you believe in

Worries a plenty but show me the way
All I need is for you to smile and say
Yearning for your love, please, don't go away

Power of God touches us through prayer

Restores strength to do things the best we can

A time to receive the Holy Spirit that makes us move

Yielding His love as we climb high mountains

Anytime we whisper it

Lift our hearts and follow His will

We run to Him and ask His help

Amazing graces, He will shower upon us

Yokes laid on our shoulders will be overcome

Soon, we can walk over sadness and trials

A Happy New Year Toast

    "A Happy New Year Toast"

Another New Year is traveling around

Happy expectations of wonders profound
Accentuate upon Life's positive things
Promised resolutions to achieve brings
Palatial gardens of kindness with care
Yearning for love and peace everywhere.

Nuture the families and friends so cherished
Embrace all humanity before finality perished
Whisper a prayer unto His Throne of Grace

Yield to the spirit sweet depth to taste
Encourage others with a warm smile
Admire rare beauty of God's great beguile
Radiate happiness whomever is near

Treasure each moment of living so dear
Open hearts and minds and souls
Accept challenges while reaching goals
Share words of love always precious and true
Tenderly touch those so special to you.

Your Eyes

 (Dedicated to Folake)

Your eyes, woman
are like twilight rainbow
amorously bearing aloft passions of mine
toward androcytic ecstacy.
They tell of endless lights.

Night skies clarion the warmth of you
keep me balled-up till
i am tilted to your adorned essence.

May I call up words to adore you,
agglomerate them into a panoply of worshippers
unsandalled before you
like Moses at the burning bush.
And now you seem to fall asleep
but you tell me it's the heavy night
bidding toward a sunny dawn
wherein our love is lighted.

Slowly I let you fall asleep
impatient with the long night
waiting to gaze once more
into the eyes of my lovely love.

Then a lip is placed on yours
and you rouse up wide-eyed
smiling at my romantic move.
We enjoyed the night, cruising on.

A New Year's Prayer

Heavenly Father, hear my plea
At your altar on bended knee.
Prayers I offer for those I love,
Prayers to you Lord, up above.
You have seen the mess we've made.
Not the plans that you had laid.
Everywhere there's war and sadness
Where there should be peace and gladness.
You must be disappointed in us all,
Each of us who ignored your call.
All mankind should this year strive
Really hard to keep humanity alive.
Lord please help us do our best
On your behalf, a peaceful quest.
Rid this earth of anger and hate.
Don't let our past dictate our fate.

Thanksgiving Day

Think of how it could have been
how you made it through my friend
all the heart ache that was shared
never alone as your burdens they bared
know that everytime you faltered
someone was kneeling at an altar
giving love the best way they knew
in constant prayer all while you grew
vain were there attempts to keep you down
insecurities as we looked all around
nearer my God to thee was your prayer
give him your love and he'll always be there
Day in and day out be thou my guide
and shelter me from my own pride
you will be my God forever by my side

Nigeria, the Soul of my Pride (Part One)
Nigeria, my country, where mournful of pledges aren’t reneged?
Indomitable she would have maintained, if crowns aren’t clowns
Gyrating on the mishaps, wearing wan gumption—unwelcome!
Ears do attend; but eyes haven’t yet seen what watery mouths do speak (of).
Roasting are to rich physiques, as paupers’ plights mount on their rotten.
Innuendoes of yesteryear ‘nattered’, nativities’ woes unforgettable.
Atrophying (now) are the little legacies her founding fathers had raised.

Nigeria my country, where true sons and daughters’ tongues sip in her bounties; sobbing,
Some are endlessly praying and raising their voice to hearings and their words to readings.

If You Think

If You Think...

If you think a love like a mother will exist, there and then
You must have been building castles in the air and thus
Need a medic or an injection to kill that feeling of an outcast-
A shadow of falsehood you’ve been chasing.
Friends like mothers will exist no doubt about that
I'm but particular about if boldly will exist in instant world, where
Sailing through has no backfire or low indignation, where
Right to freedom and possession would not be denied, where
Behind your backs, you would have all sides’ safety
Like the baby in the mother's womb, or the sun in the sky.
A bounty ground, a must be aftermath of the journey on free
Bridge on the cross roads, and lanes, and water, and bushes
Over the mountain; the rock, the valley and the hill, and on the
Troubled memory of liquors, women, demigods and kings of miseries?
Water full of love is only a reservoir for the Creator asides mothers.
I may be viewed as uncivilized or sound barbaric by this logic, but reasons
Will proclaim reality in my tone, stand and modest mood.
“Ease! Be at ease!!” The breeze from the mothers’ bosom’s recollections sway, that
Your mind would seek forgiveness and refuge from her, then the All Forgiver. Then true
Mind will redeem and have the lasting rest of his life, yield to and fulfill mother’s wish.

Note: Mothers addressed here may not necessarily be ones biological mother. It could be he or she who is never sick or tired of listening to you, hearing your plights or problems and helping you proffer solutions to them. He or she never discourages, never over-pampers and pray for your success at all times...

Promises in Spring

S So swiftly as sunlight pierces a cloudy day, lies the
P Promise that day from night is born
R Resting gently, the golden ray on startled cheek
I Is like a feather from a singing lark
N No lovely thing from Him is ever lost
G Giving faith in tomorrow's renewal, with reverant intent
F For beauty hidden from our sight
A A little while, returns ....and then....
I It lifts with wings and flutters on
T The humble prayer of Easter is not in vain
H His proof of life everlasting, arrives in every spring

God Almighty, God of grace and goodness
your guide is always guaranteed to those who gain wisdom to exalt your name.
Omnipotent is what you are
but we learn no signs of overbearing
or pride or abuse of power in you.
Dear to your being is all the creation you brought in the universe
that the loss of to the devil disturbs you
and change the entire pattern of nature.
Amalgamation of all the characters of goodness into one is epitome
that describes you even though our knowledge of you is always minimal.
Love that sees no difference in colour, languages and origins of people
tells us how sophisticated you are in integrating different parts into perfect one.
Marvellous beyond measure is your ability to design plans
that seem easy to understand in face value
but the deeper truth about them remains with you alone.
Impressive throughout eternity is the balance of laws
that you draw up to regulate nature in its everlasting beauty.
Grandeur of your Throne supersedes all the glitter and glamour
that totals all the inventions of men on earth.
High as we know it is short in your eyes
for there is no space in the whole universe that you cannot reach.
Transcendence is the quality not enough to describe your mighty powers
that see no limits or boundaries.
Your patience of the rebellious overflows across the borders of millennia
to give a chance of repentance to those who are far away from you
but are willing to join in the Holy community.

Lord, I Believe, But -

word acrostic

LORD, your mission I long to fulfill.
I know at times I hinder Your grace.
BELIEVE, You plead. -- I believe until
HELP is put on hold and doubts displace
THOU, God, the one Master of my will
MY deepest need is strength to erase
UNBELIEF -- to wait patiently still.

Our Savior, our LORD, our Surety
It is with joy that I claim You’re mine;
When I fail to BELIEVE, security
questions your HELP and asks for a sign.
How distant art THOU in obscurity.
In your presence, MY faith I refine
and break off UNBELIEF – impurity.

Jesus Christ, our unchanging LORD
totally pardons me I know. Once I
made the initial choice to BELIEVE,
He’s always been nearby to HELP.
Reprove me, Holy Comforter, THOU
alone convict of my ingratitude - MY
self-seeking pride, alas UNBELIEF.

Orchard Fantasy

Opalescent the heavy moon glows low,
Rhapsodizing in pale light, winding
Gauzy haze about gnarled branches.
Apples gleam red where moonbeams steal,
Nectaring night breezes in perfumed scent.
Innocence illumined, for creatures kneel
Commending praise beneath the trees.

Fabled branches, heavy with fruit,
Rustle leaves tinting toward gold and
Umbrella the still sanctuary cradled between old roots.
Invocation of gratitude to the Creator--
The orchard transcends to a cathedral,
Sanctifying a new year’s harvest, pure and clean.

Happy New Year

Hippity, Hip, Hooray
A new beginning, a good omen,
Peace among all men, I say,
Prosperity time and time again,
Year full of good cheer aye!

Never any pain or a tear even,
Everlasting happiness overlay
Women, weak and children.

Yesteryear is the past; So let's pray:
Every sunrise henceforth gladden
And brighten our gloomiest day
Restoring our hope and trust, Amen!

			Peril lurks around our children
As they play and walk to school.
			Nighttime's goblins have a rival;
Daytime's just as bad a ghoul.
			Evil's names are myriad,
			Murderer and terrorist;
			Others--racist, rapist, hater . . .
			Neverending is the list.
In this time of chaos rife,
			Unrelenting fear and strife,
My prayers are for a peaceful life.
