Notes About The Poem

Author's Note: This love or romantic poem, "Your Touch Means So Much," is rendered in the Pantoum poetic format and follows the traditional ABAB rhyme scheme. The meter is varied. This poem speaks to the intensity and passion shared by two people in love, whereby the essence of each other's love is personified by their "touch." Similar in theme to an earlier Terzanelle poem that I wrote, this Pantoum is oriented toward the notion that following God's blessing above, a couple's bond of love is something meant for an eternity. Moreover, the very destiny of two people as they share the emotion and ecstasy of their love is part of the larger divine nature of God's love which touches the depths of their souls as they approach their "nexus of rebirth." This theme is also arrayed against the structural requirements for the Pantoum, which made for a most interesting write. (Gary Bateman - July 31, 2015) (Pantoum)

Your Touch Means So Much

Your Touch Means So Much

Your touch means so much to me my love,
As we hold each other with intense passion.
We know our love has God’s blessing above;
Our bond for eternity shall always be in fashion.

As we hold each other with intense passion,
We dazzle with emotion pure on this Earth.
Our bond for eternity shall always be in fashion,
As we approach our souls’ nexus of rebirth.

We dazzle with emotion pure on this Earth.
We know our love has God’s blessing above,
As we approach our souls’ nexus of rebirth.
Your touch means so much to me my love.

Thanks again Sharon!! This was my first Pantoum -- and I plan to do some more in the future. They are challenging, but worth the effort. (Thanks for the "7" too!!) If you try one of these in the future, find a topic that you're comfortable writing on. It will make difference. (You can always use my poem here as a template, if it helps.) Great to have you back with us!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Thanks Robert for your read here and your fine comments. The "Pantoum" is somewhat similar to a Terzanelle and Villanelle. I will do more of all of these writes in the future. I found the key is though, to really think about your planned topic to make sure it will work with the rhyming pattern. Thanks for the 7 too!! I will away from PS over the next 2-3 weeks so I can work further on my writing and take care of some other priorities. Hope all is well with you and your family!! Cheers and Best, Gary
