Your Scent Lingers In Memories and Dreams
"From deep within my heart
I always catch the scent
of my Beloved. How can I
help but follow that fragrance?"
~ Rumi
You're gone, but when a gentle breeze blows my way
I sigh, breathing the floral fragrance of your perfume.
I remember your smile, and it makes my mind stray
to your garden where lavender continues to bloom.
Now, darkness looms around me in shades of gray.
No longer do I walk among wildflowers in the field,
for it would remind me of days I picked you a bouquet,
declaring my feelings. With a kiss, our love was sealed.
So delicate was your redolence. Velvety soft, like you.
Such a tender flower that blossomed but is no more.
Now my life is simply something I must muddle through.
You were taken from me, and your death, I deplore.
Your scent clings to my memory, lingers in my dreams.
It will never be washed away, even in torrential rains.
At night I cannot bear to see the light of moonbeams.
Without you, they fill my heart with bittersweet pains.
