Notes About The Poem

December 8, 2017

Published in: Radiant Verses -A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry -2024

Dedicated to my beloved mother, Alice, who passed on April 1, 2003.
I miss you dearly, Mom <3

Your Sacred Soul Still Calms and Comforts Me

Ave-Maria hymns lift you in flight
to Heaven’s gate apt angel does ascend
and follows lantern's light predawn of night
on glide of song and blessings she does wend.

On April morn in skies of blue as you
besprinkle crystals from your seraph’s wings,
by mourning noontime snowfall does ensue;
a smoothing swaddle soothing harmed heart-strings.

In diamond-dusted frosted filigree
so sparkles soulful kisses you bestow
for scintillant reflective reverie
your glistened gift you send in silvern snow.

Beloved mother, sainted entity
you hush my cries with snow’s serenity.

WoW! Susan, I'm with CayCay , I don't know how I managed to miss such a write. Every time I read you I'm in awe of your talent. As I began to read I heard the song "Ave- Maria" quietly in my mind. This is a lovely and well written composition for the one you wrote it to. As always excellent job:-) Alexis

Oh, Susan I don't know how I missed this heartfelt, emotional write. It is beautiful and I'm sure she is somehow aware of the feel in it, if not the actual words. Love, Grief and Courage all tenderly hugged my heart strings as I read. Your write is like one perfectly swollen, forever tear drop. When did she make her transition? I feel much right now! Love ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay for 'feeling' my write. Your stunningly beautiful words of 'one perfectly swollen, forever tear drop' is exactly how I feel this write to be and how I still feel inside. It took me fourteen years to put this in words, and yes, 'but it was just yesterday'. Thank you my friend, for your soulful and heart-hugging comments and your delightful face and words on my poetry page. Hugs and love ~Susan

Uplifting, beautiful and spiritual. From the skies in blue a mother's gown is sown. The serenity of the snow turns into spiritual calm. The imagery is soothing and captivating. The end couplet is superb, Susan! ~ Warm regards // paul

Paul, your wonderful response is beautifully poetic. I know how busy this weekend has been for you so a special thank you for spending a precious few moments with my poem. Ave Maria was my Mom's favorite song, and though it moves me to tears, it also gives me comfort, as does snow. When I was growing up she always made snow days special. We would play in the snow then come inside for lunch, cold and frosty, to steamy bowls of her homemade soup. My friends loved her almost as much as I did. Thank you for your lovely words my friend. Warmest wishes ~Susan

A beautiful diamond dusted crystalline sonnet, Susan my dear friend. I can feel the snow falling - even though we don't have any in Sydney such is the power of your imagery. And Schubert's Ave Maria - a great accompaniment to your mental image - who couldn't be uplifted! thank you for sharing this picture with you silvern description...Maria xxx

Kina, lovely friend, thank you for your heartfelt words that fill me with light and joy. 'Ave Maria' was my Mom's favorite song and fourteen years after her passing it still brings me to tears, but it gives me comfort too as does the snow. She always made snow days (home from school) so special while I was growing up. We would play outside and get all frosty and come in for lunch to a warm pot of her delicious soup for lunch. Talk about heartwarming :) Love, hugs and smiles dearest one ~Susan
