You Will Always Be a Baby To Me

How can I tell you, my sweet pretty child,
To have known your very first newborn smile,
Your ups, your downs, your friends, your laughs, your frowns,
How can I tell you, my sweet pretty child?

Your bravery in your life is unsurpassed
As you fight yet another fight to last
Some more time stolen from your grownup days,
How can I tell you, my sweet pretty child?

Your suffering is mine, and I want to take it,
I haven’t your courage to ask, but pray
Please Lord, let it be on me – for i am old,
Give her health ere her happy prime is past.

How can I tell you, my sweet pretty child?
You will always be a baby to me.

The time goes so swiftly and then they are out of the nest, thinking they know everything about life, fighting their own battles and of course a mother wants to be there, right beside them, assuring them of that strong love and support. Beautiful poem. x
