You Were My Hardest Goodbye

Listen to poem:
over time before my adoring eyes
much like a rose past its prime
i saw you wither away

i didn’t think that love could
but it grew day by day
and how sweet its perfume

you gave me the gift of intimacy
opening your heart to the nth degree
your vulnerability most endearing

a closeness i’d always in awe treasure
you were the love of my life
i never thought i'd ever have to say goodbye

It must be the hardest possible emotion, something never forgotten, losing a loved one and saying goodbye - makes me think of the patients afflicted by the corona virus who were not allowed to say goodbye. Excellent write Line, Blessings, Jennifer.

Line, I agree with Gershon. So eloquent and heartfelt this poem. The sentimental good-byes that never let us close the door. Always leave it open, just a little, just in case.

This one tears at my heartstrings. It seems so real (although I sure hope it's not). Take care, Line. Best wishes, Gershon
