You Own My Heart

Most nights
You leave me
while sleeping
Dark evenings draw in
The thought of slumber frightens me
Haunting images claim me then
Scenarios that petrified me
Repeat until dawn is seen

Different scenarios
Take you from me
All beyond my control
Unnerving me in the daylight
When sleep has left my soul

Different reasons nightly
Your lost to me once more
Your in-love with another
You smite me so I fall

I crawl through these dreams seeking
A sobering glimpse of you
Searching for you everywhere
Though I never make it through

Then I'm shocked to waking
Wet eyes to find you safe
Laying soundly beside me
My heart begins to race
I lay there silently watching
Staring upon our dark walls
As to me you are my universe
My love you are my soul

I think it's plainly seen
The thing I fear the most
Is waking up without you
And leaving me alone

"Different scenarios Take you from me All beyond my control Unnerving me in the daylight When sleep has left my soul" - unfortunately, I can very much relate to this piece. You express yourself eloquently with a dark touch that I really admire. Always, Laura
