You Can'T Stop the Nightmares

Lying in bed on a dark gloomy night, thinking about the monsters under there. Asking my mom if they would come and bite, not knowing why they couldn't stay elsewhere. Falling asleep after endless stories, of princes and princesses and rainbows; faraway lands so pleasing and at ease; castles, magic, super powers and snow. These sugars can't manage to keep away, storms and bad guys and demons and nightmares. So what is the point of it, if I may? Is the real world too much for kids to bear? And if so should we choose to fight or flight? Oh so much thought for a single dark night.

Beautiful sonnet, addressing a real important issue. Do we create an illusion world for children? How much is too much reality? What is the real nightmare here? Welcome to PoetrySoup :
