You Can'T Have One Without the Other

The concept of gays in a marriage
One side loves and one will disparage
But rule supreme court
And one side must retort
Justice just had a miscarriage

Author's note: Regardless of the outcome from the supreme court, I happen to favor gay marriage. There really is no other conclusion since we are a land of equal rights. We should do all we can to foster a society without discrimination. The arguments against these rights reveal a lot about certain people of religious persuasion. It would be comical if it were not so sad.

Thanks Darlene, yes we are all just people regardless of orientation. I have had the same experience. We are in exciting times and about to see this revisited during the ongoing political chaos.

Equality for all is certainly a goal for democracies to realize in law and in societal acceptance. Thank you for this posting, Duke. Best wishes, Brian

Brian, indeed it is. Hopefully we will continue moving in the direction of equality rather than limiting it. Much has to do with bias people have, which it is so freeing to expose and remove on a personal level. We can do a lot for ourselves if we can work on that too.

I am so impressed, Debbie. I know I have been remiss. It's because I am under work pressure. Although I am at my full retirement age, I can't pull the plug yet. I still intend to comment on all yours because you have such an unusual and wonderful aspect to your writing.

Humor is a sense shared by gays and straights so please go ahead and laugh. We are all good people on both sides of the equation.

See my comment above. It's going to be OK. This is the least of society's problems. People need a break.

Love is love! Who are we to discriminate against them. I favor gay marriages as well. Awesome topic and write. Hugs

I'm with you on this one, Duke. Attaboy!! One of the worst kind of discrimination. I love your limerick. :)

YAY for you. Stand up for what you believe. I was not sure how I felt about this a long time ago. I felt that "civil union" would be the way to go. But if they can't have civil unions in every state, then I guess they need to call it marriage. Love your title.
