You Are My First Born Child

My son, my sweet dear child, You will never understand How important you are to me. It is a difficult situation I know. But you should not have escaped from me. I am still your mother. I love you with all my heart. You have to understand that. Believe me I would have told you When you attained maturity. Yes, you are my adoptive child. Have I ever shown you lack of respect? Where your three brothers ever gain A greater favour than you? I treated you all the same. Yet your adoption was necessary. It was the advice of a doctor That made us adopt you. I had no children of my own And was very depressed. I needed a child of my own. You were chosen not left on a doorstep. And suddenly I conceived. I was not expecting it. I have treated you all the same level. You will not suffer for it. Please come back home. Even your father is worried. You are our first born no matter what. Your real parents were accidentally dead. So now this is your true family. Please, please come home. I love you too much to lose you.

Very moving Victor, adopted or not makes no difference to a mother’s love for her child… Belle

Victor, this poem captured my heart as I felt empathy for both mother and child. Another splendid story, my friend. :)

Oh Victor a beautiful heart wrenching poem of such sadness. I do hope it’s not a personal experience for you. If it is I’m so sorry you , your son and family are experiencing this. If not I’m happy about that!Debx

I can imagine how hard that would be for a child to find out that they were adopted and what kind of directions it could send them scurrying to. I was adopted but my parents always said she is the child we adopted which is not best way to handle the situation either. I think each parent has to decide what is best for them and the child they have adopted. I hope this is just a write about the subject and not a real happening in your life or a child's life. Thanks for your visits to my page. Sara

sometimes its so hard for children to accept that they are adopted, its hard for a parent to choose the right moment to tell them, I feel the pain of a parent here, well done Victor :)

Victor, this is an excellent poem. Assume this may happen, and I'm curious how the foster child will be treated. If the adoptive family has biological children. Adopted teenagers experience loneliness. Regardless of how fair or honest his mother is. I'm worried about the adoptive mother and her adopted child. I hope that this is just fictional writing. Blessings dear friend.

WoW! Victor, You have penned this well. A mother loves her child whether she gave birth to that child or not. One finding out they were adopted can bring such devastation. You told such a situation well. Good job-Alexis

Turmoil of finding out one was adopted--not easy on a young mind. I felt the emotions throughout from the heart of a mother--excellent write as always, Victor.

It must be hard to come to terms with the knowledge that you are adopted. But I know that the love for children adopted or not is equal. Tom

So touching. Irony: love us tested in wrong,cself- damaging ways. How great U can speak as Mom. Victor, with touching words. Her words will console adopted as well as ALL with alive consciences for generations. Shalom shalom Dear Man of God (mog)

This is a probable story ! An adopted child will come to experience a kind of isolation in the family if the foster parents have their own children, however true or impartial the mother is to him. Here I can sense the frustration of both the mother and the adopted son.... ! Very touching!
