Yes I Can

Yes I Can Don’t call me poor, because I don’t have money Don’t call me lazy, because you have a lot Don’t say am miserable, because I walk while you drive Don’t say am not neat because I don’t have a suit Yes but treat me as a human because I am one We both have red blood and we both get sick We both wake up, but the difference is type of beds we slept on As per now the only difference is our financial status You have I don’t have, but I know I will also get If only I get a chance like yours, I can make it like you I am trying my best to make ends meet You are trying your best to keep me off They said I failed, I told them it’s beginning of another trying chance But yes, Here I am; Am on my way up And soon I will be where you are or further Yes I can, since I have the ability Yes I will, because my dreams are real Yes am almost making it, since I can see the light And it is true since I am alive and well We are many down here, Yes But I will make the difference (By Waweru Ngugi)

Nicely written. Poor is merely poverty of purpose, not the lack of money. If one is not successful in another's economy, then one needs to sell hammers in one's own and begin a building drive. Shouldn't blame the other for one's non-inclusion in their economy. You can't blame a bank for how they operate if you don't start your own bank with your own rules. Besides, if your bank were successful how would you treat outsiders? More fairly? I think perhaps not.
