Wry Amidst the Darkness

spry within the shadows you come
wry amidst the darkness you haunt
i care not what it is you want
why is it my soul you still taunt?

do not taint my mind with your past
you have no power over me
spew your wretched words upon death
strew yourself in its lifeless sea

i'm bloodless of inked memories
chime of childhood pain has bled dry
time has a way to heal old wounds
climb back within your grave and die

This was maybe my favorite so far. No time for the others now. 30 min in my gym sauna I thin is enough. Congrats. I'm outta here

Very dark and strong, this poem cries in echoes of strength, a voice fending off the sorrow of the past and looking forward beyond the darkness. Deeply written. Best wishes in the contest Sandy

Thank you Chris... this form was tough and after many attempts i finally picked a word to start with and found all the words that rhymed and let my muse take it from there...4 attempts of taking it on a pretty path and running out of words that made sense made me tackle it another way.... hugs

Your ending rhymes and the ones that start each line work well together to create a synchronous story--I felt the melancholy in your write but also the authority that powers the ending. Your gifted pen moves easily in so many poetic forms to create great poetry.
