Write a Poem

I think I can write a poem Until I read what others pen And the little confidence I do possess Disappears once again So eloquently they are written With intellectual fancy words Unfortunately I don’t understand As it’s words I’ve never heard Challenging and confusing Are these poems I have read As I reach the very end I have no idea what was said? I envy their gift of knowledge Put to print to tell a tale Though understanding what has been told I must admit I fail I am a simple person My words basic and plain Words that flow from my heart Written time and time again So I hope “I can write a poem” Which I’d like to think Is true That evokes some emotion Within some part of you
