Wounded, Not Won
Wounded, Not Won
I was angry at the world, not loud, not wild,
But the kind that burns the throat, feral and filed.
Built from mistakes, regret, loss, failure’s stain,
Stacked so damn high they felt permanent—pain.
They talk of the past like it’s gentle and kind,
Like it knocks on your door, asks space in your mind.
Bull. The past kicks doors clean off the frame,
Drags your worst moments out, calls them your name.
Every failure screams, this is all you’ll be,
Every mistake laughs loud when you dare to be free.
Every loss carves holes you can’t fill back again,
Takes pieces of you and leaves silence behind.
And regret—don’t get it twisted, regret isn’t wise,
It doesn’t teach lessons, it gouges your eyes.
It rewinds the same scenes, sharp, vicious, and slow,
Till you hate that you lived when you wanted to go.
I drowned in it deep, let it pull me apart,
Let it brand “damaged goods” straight onto my heart.
Let it whisper I’m finished, before I begin,
Let it tell me survival was losing, not win.
But something snapped hard in the pit of my chest,
A crack in the dark, a refusal to rest.
Because the past only wins when you hand it the key,
Only owns your tomorrow if you let it be.
If there’s a mountain ahead—then climb that damn thing,
Not ready, not steady, not waiting for wings.
Climb angry, breathless, hands torn to the bone,
Prove strength is built when you do it alone.
If there’s a river—swim straight through the tide,
Even fear in your lungs, even doubt by your side.
You don’t wait for calm water to give you a pass,
You move or you drown—those are facts, not a guess.
If there’s a storm—grab a ing umbrella, stand tall,
Storms don’t end lives, they just test them—that’s all.
So walk through it soaked, exhausted, and bruised,
Stubborn enough to refuse being used.
Take every challenge life throws in your way,
Put your head down, drive through—don’t sway.
Set goals like anchors, let ambition bite,
Do whatever the hell it takes to rise.
Don’t let the past chain your future in place,
Don’t let it rot your life, poison your space.
You are not what broke you, not scars you still wear,
You are what you build when you stand up and dare.
So let this be louder than all of the strife:
Not the fall, not the pain, not the cut of the knife.
This is survival, hard-earned and real,
This is power you forged from refusing to kneel.
And this is the truth, carved deep, cut precise—
You didn’t just live…
you reclaimed your life
