Words

Words
If the words come,
	Let them.
Don’t struggle.
Forcing them will be obvious,
	there is no ebb and flow,
	they’ll spit and foam and falter.
Their expression relieves the heart of pain
	and keeps the mind fluent in thought.
Their silence stills the soul
	and swells emotion to tears
	and aching with emptiness;
so,
	let the words come
	if they will;
	if they don’t –
hold back in the quiet,
breathe in softly the stillness,
	soon enough,
the words will find their way out.
