Wizardry of Waves
Enchanted by the wizardry of waves,
I watched a massive billow mount the wind,
Soar as if to soak in molten gold
Between the smoldering clouds, suck in a roar,
And with his rolling arms and frothy hands
Curl to slap the backs of rocks
And gush in ermine foam.
Among the cries of gulls I saw jade fingers,
Fling to spray and spew down shattered crystal,
Join again to pulsing palms of glass
That burned in evening embers, gently rub
The burnished beach and pull away to leave
A field of diamonds flashing to the heaving
Of my heart.
