Without Warning
Listen to poem:
The last thing
I remember
I was playing carefree
In the summer field
With my newfound little soul mate
The same first and last name
Except for a single letter
Imagine that
Never so happy
School was out
Freedom was in the air
Adventures on our mind
Treasures to discover
I ran home with delight
Only to find the biggest truck
I’d ever seen sitting in our driveway
I knew it was a bad omen
Sure enough
Life as I knew it
Was about to end
Suddenly
Just like that
Without warning
Torn apart from
My little soul mate
The one with same first and last name
Except for that one single letter
