Within Your Face
The first time ever I saw your face,
a world observed and unobserved
inside my dreams unfurled…
there were so many lakes surrounding
a rare July mist in your quivering fragrance,
while behind glints from your eyes
my own irises touched the same flame.
Limbs of a trunk engraved the paths
of eventide to illumine our moon’s glide
discovering the notes of canticles
still to be sang; breaths on ladders
waiting for midnight to be climbed.
Somewhere before and after
the first time ever I saw your face,
an ambrosia of surrender melted…
until we became half-cloaked
in the vastness of silence,
as cloud’s hammock drenched the woods
that ached to be explored by all that is you.
