Within These Walls

There blew a storm across the sky, a tattered world arose
Yet in my mind a sense of peace, a warmth within my heart
A battered earth wears ravaged face, a wearied world worn down
The barren trees beneath the moon, will quiver, quake and swoon
While here I keep at peace with you, no fear of winter's view
I turn my back to window seiged, as mighty clouds roll in
I close my ears to thunder's shout, my eyes keep hold on you

There is no dark, there is no voice, to steal a heart serene
If lost the things I've grown to love, were scattered into dust
And crumbled walls around me fell, our haven left a shell
If storms thrust in, and fury roars, to strip it all away
The only place my heart stays strong, is safe within your arms

A beautiful write in this form, Carrie! Never wrote in this form and not sure if I could. I noticed each line of 8 syllables. Great work! Good luck on the contest. Best wishes, Caroline.

Carrie, This is really a lovely romantic piece and I wish you well in the contest. This is a difficult form to write in and you did well. Blessings, Connie
