Within His Eyes

Within His Eyes


Within his eyes, we saw his thankful love
   as he was saved from meeting a sad fate
and brought into the warmth that winter night
   where destiny and loving bonds await.

Within his eyes, we saw committed love
   for nurture from a family that cared.
So many years of comfort and pure joy
   and unconditional sweet love he shared.
 
Within his eyes, for many years, joy beamed...
   tho softer glowed as twenty soon came by.
And when they closed forever one sad day,
   to loving eyes and purrs we said goodbye.

This is a special, very heartfelt poem about our beloved cat, 
Charlie, a stray that my husband rescued from a fire many
years ago, and who we loved and adored for twenty years.
