Dark rhyme, ( Dedicated to Master Poe), Part Two

Note: When inspired, let the pen dance.
If it is dark and Poe speaks, carry that torch until it burns the poetic mind.
Such is gift, a gem if one embraces the muse and says , ok let her rip..

Within Hellish Abyss, Sounds Serpent's Hiss, Part Two As Poe'sque verses come demons surround, night hours break into loud hideous sounds. With claws and long fangs thirsting for warm blood, more beasts appear in a torrential flood. Yet nothing can stop pen and its dark ink, for deep in poetic dark, poet sinks. In distant pits of hell, flames rise and roar, as lost mortals seek to even old scores. Pen recharges onto paper that begs, as if it had marathon running legs For now master Poe's image had arrived, uttering these bold words, "I have survived"! More verses pour from his cracked and parched lips, on pain, death, heartbreak, ancient sunken ships. Sailors wailing as dark waters they drank, and into dooming depths bodies thus sank. Poe calls out warning, "my stay may be brief", poet cries, "faster pen, give me relief". "Obey this order, least my black mist leaves, express these scenes for master Poe so grieves". Demons moan, wanting black and darker still, as their wickedness begs more savage thrills. Magnificent master Poe again speaks, "waste not these hours, Raven's power soon peaks"! Robert J. Lindley, 9-21-2018 Dark rhyme, ( Dedicated to Master Poe) , Part Two

Nette, thank you my dear friend. Whenever I write of Poe I feel a special link to him, his poetry and my thoughts on his life and its wonderful gifts given to us all.

Time has a way to separate the wheat from the chaff. Where are those sarcastic poets now and where is Poe? I remember the moment I opened his short stories book at the first time. It was a kind of shift into the other dimensions. After that other authors seemed tasteless to me long enough.

None of Poe's critic have ever impressed me with their own writings-- thus I reason much of it was jealousy at being so far beneath a true poetic genius. I love his stories but most of my intense admiration is because of his poetry. Seems I share his love of dark, brooding and oft tragic verse.

I totally agree with you, Robert. And, among his brilliant poetry, he invented a bunch of literary genres the writers use nowadays. He was a pioneer in writting. It's worth a lot.

He also had a few high level poets of his day that criticized his work unmercifully and with great determination to cause him harm. Jealousy exists regardless of fame, stature or ability to refute its arrows. Poe always belongs in the top ten poets of all time..

Thank you my friend. So true, Edgar Allen Poe's name always belongs in the top ten best poets that ever inked a verse, in my opinion. He was a true poetic genius and a true master of poetry,(especially so-- his dark poetry)....
