With My God-Given Senses
MY FIVE SENSES AT WORK WITH MY SPECIAL CHILD
With my God-given sense of sight
I thank* His miraculous might
For my special child’s milestones’ height
He manifests with great delight:
…appreciative face, glowing bright
…raising hands while learning left or right
…distinguishing yellow from white
…sign language show of prayer-plight!
As for my ready sense of smell
The Lord signals my nose to tell
If my special child can revel
In his grooming as scented well:
…since his quirky acts don’t repel
…the baby cologne’s blissful swell
…with his perfumed lotion and gel
…of after-bath fragrance level!
Through my tasting ability
God endows me sense-faculty
To check food nutrients’ quality
For my child’s growth-intensity:
…midst sweet cravings - chocolatey
…appetite for fish, so meaty
…as well as juice, milky and fruity
…ignoring bitter or salty!
By my God-blessed sense of hearing
I listen to my child sharing
His thoughts midst shouts so endearing
Thru his glee-filled muttering:
…Bible stories, his heart stirring
…Gospel songs with his voice soaring
…stammering about cats purring
…noise - whispering, cheering, caring!
Along my God-bestowed touch-sense
I can feel my child’s innocence
Filled with wondrous wisdom’s presence
By his assurance-grip’s license:
…kiss of gratitude's prevalence
…embrace of sweet joy’s opulence
…hugs of peace for restful silence
…all expressing love’s excellence!
*1Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
