Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel

There once was a witch named Hazel
Mistook poison oak for sweet basil
She finally conceded
New glasses, she needed,
For Halloween spells reappraisal

Thank you so much, Jan! Coming from a master limerick writer, this is indeed a treasured compliment! I don't know why limericks seem to escape me, but this Halloween theme seemed to bring out the "spirit" in me! HaHa! Gratitude, blessings and hugs to you!

Hi Andrea! So grateful for your thoughtful note of congratulations! I struggle with limericks so this win was a delightful surprise. Just had to have some Halloween fun at the expense of Hazel who needed glasses! Terrible when you can't read your spell for Halloween! Sending you blessings of joy and gratitude!!

Thank you so much, Joseph! I really had fun with this theme. The limerick was a perfect form to express the playful side of Halloween! So grateful for your placement - a delightful surprise - and for your sponsorship of the contest. You do so much for PS with your contests and your supportive feedback. Sending you my gratitude and blessings!!

Hahaha! My Dearest Rhyme Time Friend, your humorous Halloween pen is adorable! Your fun and vibrant Halloween imagery is delightful and I adore the wordplay of the title too! "Mistook poison oak for sweet basil" oh, I can only imagine the havoc caused by that disenchanting faux pas lol! Your poetic pen is indeed magical, my sweet poetry sis! Congratulations for your bewitching win in Joseph's contest. Warmest wishes sent on limerick giggles.. ~Susan

My Dearest Rhyme Time Friend, your lovely words of compliment have me flying high! Thank you so much, dear friend. Was hoping the double meaning in the title would stand out! For some reason limericks are hard for me to write but the Halloween theme seemed to enchant my pen like a sorcerer! Had fun with this one and a companion that I will save for next year! Hazel's doing much better with her new glasses and has stopped flying into telephone poles! So grateful for your delightful laughter, sweet poetry sis! Sending you blessings on the wings of "sweet basil" - good for turkey dressing too!

Thank you so much, Kelly! I don't write many limericks but this theme on Halloween just seemed to spark a silly picture of a witch needing glasses! Had fun! Thanks for sharing in my Halloween silliness! Giggles are always best when they are shared with a kindred "spirit!" Sending you blessings and my gratitude!!

This is so cute, how this witch didnt realize she needed new pair of spectacles! Hah! Clever one! You can write limericks too, and leave your readers in awe of how well you weave ideas and thoughts in any form with rhymes etc! I especially love the line “ mistook poison for sweet basil” brilliant! Iv never written a limerick simply because i dont think i can write one haha, i am not so good with this genre, but my sister is really good with them and i think you are good at nailing any theme. Ah, dearest Inky! Thank you for the beautiful blessing of your gracious words and compliments! With your prowess at creating poetic magic I would bet that your limericks would blow us into the heights of poetic hilarity! I hope you will try one! I struggle with limericks but this theme seemed to bring out my latent silliness. I am so glad you enjoyed witch Hazel's blurry dilemma. Sending you blessings, dear heart!

Your Halloween limerick was especially good! So glad we could share some All Hallows spookiness, dear friend! And, the witches scene from Macbeth was indeed scary! Great source of inspiration.
