Wisconsin

We are known for our football, bratwurst, and beer, Iridescent blue lakes with fresh waters, crystal clear, Summer's sun blazes hot enough to make skin burn, Cheese producing dairy farms are around every turn, Our bright autumn leaves change their colors with ease, Near spring, the scent of lilac floats upon the breeze, Snowy winters, with temperatures below zero degrees, In our green forests, raccoons and deer have a home, Near the roadside, wildflowers grow wherever you roam. Harley-Davidson was born, where the eagles fly free, Wisconsin is as close to heaven, as home can be. Kim Merryman's contest - "Tell Me About Where You're From"

I had to read this one. I have a young Soldier in my charge, and a fellow Warrant Officer buddy of mine both from Wisconsin. Seems like a nice place. I've never been. Any hoo, great piece here, I enjoyed it! MC

OMG - My brother has lived in Wisconsin for years .. perfect description of his 500 acre property overlooking the Kickapoo River. He's always sends pic at spring time with the beautiful flowers and the many fledglings that have just hatched...his wife is from Canada and they both love the cold...don't know if I could adapt, so a visit during springtime or fall is all that I venture......

Thank you so much for your nice comments, Genevieve... Having lived in Wisconsin all my life I've gotten used to the cold weather! The state really is beautiful all year round, so anytime would be nice for a visit!... Well next door here in Minnesota. Your beer flows free and fills our quota. We get bunched up with all your cheese. You know I'm kidding, I like to tease. :) Wisconsin's such a unique state. Even a Viking fan really can't hate. Peace. :)

my gosh , you got in a lot of info about Wisconsin. VERY well done. rhyming and everything! I am from iowa so I know Wisconsin a little bit and it's got a lot of Iowa type feel to it!!

Never been there, but I want to! I have family that just moved there..boy what a welcome the winter gave them. This is a great poem...should be an advertisement on a travel site. BG

Thank you very much, Barbara! I feel bad for your family, having to move up here this winter. It has been one of the harshest winters that we have ever had. But, I am glad that spring has finally arrived in Wisconsin. It would be a great time to visit our state! :)

Hey Kelly, I've been to Wisconsin many times in the past... Manitowoc, Wisconsin... It's lovely.... Besides the Green Bay Packers, are my second favorite Football team.. YEAH! PACKERS!!!! I for one love your state.... xox~ Linda
