Winter Respite - (Re-Submit)

January
February
Sitting atop a frozen world
In this igloo house
Hovered o’er by Gods
Of ice and snow
In their awful grey vault of heaven!

Some Jupiter’s joke up there
Has turned things upside down
Somewhere above the roiling roof
Lay a land of spice and fruit
Mind reaching out
Logy along the vein
Tastes the unpeeled
Plumb of paradise
One short minute’s warmth

But then
Back down again
January
February
This igloo house

hey, I actually fell upon one here that I'd not seen before. You must have been hating winter when you wrote this one. I feel your pain. (and cold) this one is cool how it starts and finishes with the igloo house image. Hope you get the sinus thing better. that's what gave us a 6 thousand dollar bill with ER. Joe's "stroke" turning out to be a bad sinus infection. Good grief.

Burrrr! And cold it is! Daver, I enjoyed reading this wonderfully "cold" winter poem. Such a fun way to handle our days in the "igloo house" Thank you for your recent comments on my work. I have definitely missed the soup for the past week while I was out of town. Thank you for understanding my delay in thanking you. Lovingly, Dane Ann

When I live in the North country, that is what it felt like for sure! One minute the corn tasseled and then it was covered with snow! Thanks for making me appreciate where I now am, Daver. :)-Robert

Interesting write, Daver! It seems the sun did break through, just for a min., then clouds took over, back to the grey vault of a strange heaven, I personally wouldn't call heaven, but I understand what you mean. A very interesting metaphoric poem. Thanks for sharing and thank you for your kind comments on my featured poem. Best wishes, Caroline.

That sounds like a very cold uninviting place that one has to escape from to dream or fantasy land. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara

Reaching that other plane where warmth can be found is quite a welcome out-of-body experience on such a cold day in the "igloo house." Very compelling poem that reveals your spiritual side, dear friend! Love, carolyn
