Winter.. Now and Then

My love for this, the fourth season, Lives within it’s own secret joy, ‘Tis all so very pleasin’, To watch Nature employ, Her whims on this Florida boy. The warm soft breeze from the Okee lake, Seductively luring the snowbird crowd, Fluttering flowers for heaven’s sake, Nudging wisps of cirrus cloud, Stirring souls to meditate. How I longed to follow where Robin wings bent, As I watched them gather and circle away, After Autumn season was well spent, Knowing my friends could not stay…… The fierce winter is why they went. I would wave to my garden grubbing friends, Who spent months scolding me for a worm, I would surely miss them by summer‘s end, And each fall my resolve was more firm, As winter’s hearth fires I would tend. Fate has smiled for me I’m happy to say, Winter is here for this now a Florida boy, And my friends are on their way, To live, visit and help me enjoy, This lovely winter ‘til May! To watch Nature employ, Her whims on this Florida boy. Nature plays her whims on all of us old boys, i am afraid, Robert. "Congratulations" on your worthy poem's recognition! Agape, Moses

Ah, Lake Okeechobee! I know where that is. Bet you had some cold temperatures there last winter, maybe even some snow. It's not likely to happen two years in a row, thankfully. Love, Carolyn

Being a fellow Floridian, I can relate to this poem, Robert. The "fierce winter" was actually pretty cold last year, but the snowbirds still came to Florida. Not sure where Lake Okee is, but I doubt we'll see snow in north Florida again this winter. It's the best time of the year here! Love, Carolyn
