Winter Morning
A bitter morning dawned today.
Red grasses shiver under grey
And lonely skies. Midwinter light.
Misty clouds of swirling steam
Waft above the rushing stream.
Eagles perch upon the white
Sycamore trees where they survey
Their cold dominion and stay
To gather trout, until they
Unfold their wings, spiral away.
