Notes About The Poem

WINTER LAMENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One paw
on frozen bark,
he stares
at his empty cache~
acorn thefts long spent.
Freakin' wintertime he mutters,
fluffing fur
against the wind,
while snow
laughs
back in silence.
A kingdom of buried treasure,
and not a dang thing to chew.
What’s a squirrel to do?
