Winter Guardians

Rows of heavy snow flocked pines
In varied heights stretch to touch
White cloud dappled azure skies.
Their blue-gray shadows cast across

Pristine snow and swift river's flow.
Steep hillsides lure camera lenses
With picturesque clear alpine air,
Sharing serene senses with dawn.

Shimmering bright in solar light,
Powdered snow in angelic glow
Captures diamond crystal auras
Reflected off the drifted mounds.

Rounded river rocks dressed with
Snow covered marshmallow tops
Greet the beauty of the celestial sun,
In divine display of this blessed day.

Love the images bring out here. Yes, it's true I could have written more lines on my FEAR poem. But I also think if I add more lines to a simple thought. In this case waking up from dreaming. I think it will be ruined. I still write my thoughts with a pen/pencil in notebooks :) My Vanilla Twilight is much longer :)

I was on the balcony of my mountain lodge rental, in Tahoe, sipping my morning coffee full of possibility and the promise of nature spoke aloud a most enthralling poem. I swear that just happened. Love ya ... CayCay

Great imagery, Connie. I love winter, and snow. And sun, turning a blanket of snow into a field of diamonds!

Yes, that reminds me of diamond dust which is a ground-level cloud composed of tiny ice crystals. This meteorological phenomenon is also referred to simply as ice crystals which is usually observed in the poles or other regions where temperatures drop well below freezing. It is breathtaking. Thank you Cona. ; )

That marshmallow tops line, melts my heart. You make snowy winters sound magical. I'm getting jealous for not having them.

Every time I read your poetry I feel so sheepish about my own. This is truly stunning. It captures the imagination through breathtaking imagery and does so without relying on structure but on your brilliance

Your beautiful poem leaves me longing for the winters I knew as a child. Each year I tell myself I must see snow again and now I have through your poem. It's a welcome gift from a friend who lives in a climate that's warm like mine. Thank you! Hugs, Carolyn

Once you have seen snow and watched it glisten in the sun you never forget it. I was born in Kansas and have returned to visit relatives and friends. Not so much now, but a few years ago. I used to visit every fall. I am happy to have taken you there in my poem. I hope you are feeling well and that you have a fantastic new year! Thank you Carolyn. : )
