winter daphne

mauve daphne buds swell
 when snow and frost prowl landscapes ~
  winter perfume bursts

My grandmother introduced me to the Daphne which is native to China, Japan and Korea. I have heard it called the "perfume princess." A great description of this amazing, fragrant flower!
