Winning the Bid

I won these at the auction she said! They only cost me six hundred dollars! EACH? I screeched. “No, silly, the pair.” “I thought they started at $38.” “They did, but someone kept bidding them up.” Later that day I met her mother. “I tried to get those mermaids for my daughter”, she said. “But they went way too high. I had to drop out.” I did not tell her who she was bidding against.

This has a funny twist at the end, and I really enjoyed the read. Imagine if she only but knew! This poem somehow resembles my poem, the ending especially, different scenario- the poem is called 'EYE SPY' Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

A true story - it happened to my daughter and my husband. He finally gave up. They were both buying it for her son.
