Wind Storm

Winter trees stand stripped of speech
All grammar blown from branch and bark
The wind eats leaves then eats belief
Gnawing the light down to its dark

What’s left is bone against the sky
A forest left battered…aching still
Each trunk choking back its cry
The storm keeps trying to translate

Christopher, to me your poem shows how devastating forces can strip away language, belief, and, clarity—yet we still search for meaning because that’s how we’re wired. I love the lines, “The wind eats leaves then eats belief / Gnawing the light down to its dark”. A FAV poem for me.
