Notes About The Poem

Wind Beneath Their Wings

Exuberance of agile seagulls
Flying with utmost ease and grace
Gliding to the tune of autumn’s wind...
Here, standing on the edge of the cliff
I look with envy, bemoaning my limitations.

Paul, first of all, I love your title. Secondly, my heart soared with exuberance when I read your graceful lines that glided with ease from the page and into my imagination... and I totally felt the words of your last line in my mind, body and soul. An eloquent, exquisite and stirring write, well deserved of a first place win. Congratulations my friend. ~Susan

Your writing, Paul, is inspiring to a new writer. The imagery in so few words is fascinating! I have found a mentor. (Ha. Good luck with that!)

I was delighted to see your work in my winners’ list..I enjoyed reading the work of an outstanding poet..Your participation was much appreciated..Seeing seabirds soar does entice us to want to soar like they do but alas we are stuck to the earth unless we use the service of the airline..Sara

Oh to have the wings of a bird and glide on the air currents. Well that's not possible, so I guess I settle for the metal winged variety - so boring. I'm too scared to hand glide from the cliff tops :( Not familiar with this form, but you have mastered it brilliantly as always Paul...Maria
