Win, Place Or Show
My meandering efforts were vain in arrogance
As I trailed, purposely, behind those who lead
How I wanted to take first place, but reject light
So, I let humbleness overtake talent and guide me
It is an effort in itself to not be as good, a winner
For I know, my parents told me, I am a cut above
But, yet, I want not to be in front, to stand out
So, I am destined to live the life of the second, the follower
I know in my heart where my place truly is, should be
Is it arrogance or can I sum it up as integrity, truth?
Where lies my place in life, lies within the depth of me
As my heart grants me permission to smile with each endeavor
