Wilting Beneath Withered Wishes

Drained and dried by life then left to die
She lived to love; but oft was left to cry
Counseled to carry on she continues
Shriveling as to She'ol her heart schuss

Holding on to hopes a hazard in her eyes
Immature and imbecilic it implies
Weary from wishing an end to her woe
she shelters her shredded spirit in shadow

Without febrility from festering passions to foil
unavowed feelings wilt under burnt umber soil
As expectation of love's exalted expressions fades
desires deaden; in desperation she no longer wades

The alliteration in your title caught my eye, Shadow (I did not do that on purpose, eye shadow, heehee)... but I was pleasantly surprised with the tale you have weaved here plus I got to look up 2 new words in schuss & She'ol ... enjoyed your use of alliteration here-- you made it work well. It's a sad write, but nonetheless beautifully written. I also want to pass by here to say thank you, dear Shadow (I know, rhymes with "know") It has been umm around 5 months since I last got a comment contd

That made me smile, "Eye Shadow" would be a cool name ;) I'm sorry if my reply is so late, oops. I'm glad that my comment was able to brighten your day :) And yes, busy but relatively good and stressful (haha, it wouldn't be as much fun without the stress, eyebag-inducing & hair whitening moments!)

and I haven't logged in here for months, I forgot my pword. Then I got some notification of my poem being featured, so I passed by here I think last week or was it the other week? Hmmm, the angel strikes again ;) Thank you very much--sorry I just got to log in here now, been really swamped. I feel guilty though, I am too busy to be active. But my heartfelt thank you! Sending love and blessings your way! Happy Easter to you!

Thank you Eve. I've never written a poem focused solely on alliterations.
