Wild Birds Poetry Contest
We Cardinals are messengers from Heaven's throne,
I have royal scarlet plumage,
my wife is mostly brown with a touch of red on
her head and wings.
When we appear, your departed loved ones
are nearby.
She and I fly together and nestle on
holly boughs in wintry weather.
In springtime we nest in apple blossom branches,
our fledglings are God's gift to earth.
We trill sacred songs as His angels sing along,
high up in the summer foliage treetops swaying.
You cherish watching us as we charm your days,
be rest assured, someday when you pass,
your grieving relatives and friends-
will be comforted by us. ~
