Wild Birds Poetry Contest

We Cardinals are messengers from Heaven's throne, I have royal scarlet plumage, my wife is mostly brown with a touch of red on her head and wings. When we appear, your departed loved ones are nearby. She and I fly together and nestle on holly boughs in wintry weather. In springtime we nest in apple blossom branches, our fledglings are God's gift to earth. We trill sacred songs as His angels sing along, high up in the summer foliage treetops swaying. You cherish watching us as we charm your days, be rest assured, someday when you pass, your grieving relatives and friends- will be comforted by us. ~

Hi Pangie, this contest was from last November. Just thought I'd send you a bird nature poem. We have a window bird feeder, love to watch the birds. Blessings and hugs xoxx

So sweet a write Regina. They like to come to my front porch and sit on the railing to look, cock their heads, and thanks us for the food we provide in the feeders. As you say, they are comforting creatures. :)

A lovely Personification poem for the contest, Regina. Your imagery described the cardinal well. Good luck in the contest! A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Thank you, Bill. Shortly after my late husband Mike passed away, my daughter was weeping on the patio right before a spring rainstorm. Suddenly, several pairs of male and female cardinals alighted on the wooden fence and remained there for at least a half hour. God's comforting is such a blessing. All the best to you & Sara ~
