i say the word out loud
its sound 
dead weight
falling 
lost in a vortex
the echo muffled

i say the word
of what I have become
i am no longer whole
the part of me gone
i will never recover            

i say the word
to somehow befriend it
be less afraid of 
the gaping hole 
i know will never heal
