Why Germany Lost the War

While Italian girls were looking at shoes, And German women were reading the news, And checking to find some good movie reruns, The Russian women were grabbing their guns. And while Germany was losing its gains, Rosie the Riveter was turning out planes. While Hitler was saying "You've got to be White", The Tuskegee Airmen were conducting a flight And when Germany said, We are going to win, American bombers were bombing Berlin. Occasionally I write war poems as part of history. This one was inspired by the Netflix series on WW2.

The Second World War was the deadliest war in human History. So many countries, almost all were directly or indirectly involved in it. Germany's invasion on Russia was the most foolish step that led to Germany's defeat. The Soviet Union was then so very powerful. Enjoyed this piece of History.

Arrogance has a price. War should always be approached from the perspective of possible defeat. Tennyson's "the Charge of the Light Brigade" sums it up well.

Love this Hilda. I read up about Rosie The Riveter after reading this poem: "an allegorical cultural icon" Apparently some claim that she forever opened the work force for women, but others said after the war their jobs were given to returning servicemen. I digress..there's grit and great rhyming here. Thanks for sharing. Cheers - Gary

I feel the jobs should have been given back to those service men and women who survived. I digress. We pulled together as a nation. God bless the USA. Thank you for your comment and encouragement.

One of the main reasons Germany lost, is because they invaded Russia. Loved your poem written in a fancy style.

Interesting, I don't know that much about that part of history, but it does seem like I heard of Russian women in action, and of course, Rosie the Riveter. It sounds like women contributed less directly to the war effort in Germany and Italy? Was Nazi propaganda emphasizing the housewife role? Hmm, interesting.

Yes, they did. Women in Germany had a feminine role. Russia had to enlist every able bodied person, women too.

It's a very sad comment on humanity, isn't it, that "war" has to be a part of history? A great piece, Hilda.

Dear hilda, i studied about war too and specifically in Germany. Which movie inspired you to write this? I recently watched a very interesting one on Netflix, forgot the name but its about a blind person and how he reached many and voiced out for so many through his voice. Im so bad with names. Also i watched the docuseries i think about einstein i think. Pleasure reading this. Sending you light always

I saw several war movies. It was sad for Germans too, but bad things had to be stopped. Keep reading history, dear Ink. Thanks.
