Why did you have to die Zak

Why did you have to die?
*********************
Well Zak I thought you were a gentle soul
So like your Mum, a loner at times
The drug scene got a hold of you
But rehab you wouldn’t go too

You looked a happy little boy
Growing up, been looking at photographs
There was a sweet side to you
I did love you, I did care

I prayed you’d find courage and hope
To kick the pills away
So sad, your gone too soon
Still can’t take it in

I keep thinking why did you have to die?
Nobody got chance to say goodbye
Mayby that’s what you wanted to slip away
No fuss, no conflict, you decided it was time

Or was it a shock to you as it was to us
Didn’t you think this would be your last buzz
I pray your at peace now in your head
Rest, pretty boy lay down your sweet head

Written with love n memory of Zak

I'm sorry to hear this story. It's so sad when someone young dies, especially, if it seems like it didn't really need to happen.

Dear Dorothy, my heart goes out to Zak.😢 I don't know how he is related to you, still l assume he must have been one so close to your heart. Children who are so dear and sweet slip into addiction and finally end their lives, plunging their dear ones to eternal agony. Now, here too it happens as an everyday affair. As parents, we can only pray for our children.🙏💕

Zak was my best friends son Valsa same age as my son. Like family really he was a lovely looking boy but drugs controlled his life. If only he had gone to rehab like my nephew done who was alcoholic drug addict was at deaths door. Now praise God 17 months free from every addiction. Was speaking about his transformation at one of local Prisons this week. He works full time for the rehab and helping others beat their demons. Too many sad lives lost from any addictions n suicide. People out there need hope kindness n love ❤️ hugzzz friend 🫂

When someone dies, and especially prematurely, there is a tirade of whys? I felt you pain and anguish in your words, but most of all i felt the love you have.. I can relate to your words, having lost so many and had to deal with a lot of grief in my life... Touching poetry dear Dorothy.. Be blessed..

Thanks for sharing this tragic story. Sorry this event happened. My sister's son ended his like 5 years ago on 4th of July. He had no addictions and told no one he was in so much pain from depression. It's so sad for the parents especially.

Awww Andrea so sorry about your sister's son . Especially on 4th July :( I don't think Mums get over the tragic way their child dies. I've one son and the very thought. So many people today are ending their lives. A guy I worked with loveliest guy ever. Wrote his mum note said sorry Mum I don't want to hurt you said nobody at his funeral. My heart hurts, Youv touched a very significant and poignant subject. Not many are comfortable with writing about these things, and I personally appreciate it, when I read a poem that is so real such as this, its sad when drugs take control, sometimes they start for fun, and end up hooked and addictd unable to recover from the illness, yes it is an illness, just like many other, which many frown upon, its sad, and heart wrenching really, i long to save the world from such situations. And my thoughts are with you ~ your family, it must be shocking and very challenging, losing someone so precious so suddenly without a warning and without any last word. Sigh sending you big hugsz. Stay strong like always beautiful Scotti! Pleasure always visiting you. Sending you light. Its a fave again for me

Ink your heart on same road as mine. If only we had an answer to rescue everyone. One of my nephews i love so much same with alcohol but says its not a problem. Hes in prison for 3rd time and he rings me every sunday from prison. I email him to keep his spirits up and tell him no matter what he does I never walk away and love him unconditionally ~. He been 9 months in and gets out 4th August. So today we chatted about his addiction I said son its admitting it is first step on journey of recovery. I soup mail you sometime n share about his brother magnificent turn around from deaths door. It's powerful story. Anyway didn't mean to write so much, when I write everything flows like you heart n soul. Hugs my inspirational gal my friend ~ <3 thank u for the fav of my journey x

I am back to read another of your poems, I am so sorry for your loss. My cousin John struggled with depression, drugs and alcohol. He chose to end his pain, it was tragic, and I still battle with this deep loss. I am sending you hugs and lifting a prayer.

Deepest condolences for your loss. My father struggled in his later years with drugs and I suspect depression. I lost him in a murder but it could have been connected to drugs. We will never know. Your poem is a reminder to us all to love despite challenges as we know not when life will slip away. Hugs
