Why Can’t You See

You make me smile
I make you cry
You tell me you love me
I only ask you why

You make me happy
I make you mad
You always forgive me
but still I’m bad

You give yourself freely
I’m always taking
You’re always true
but I’m always faking

Why can’t you see
you deserve better than this
not this game I play
but true love and eternal bliss

Why are you so perfect
and I’m such a heel
you full of love and life
and me barely able to feel

How can you love
a nobody like me
when all I have to offer
is a heart too broken to be free

So show me a better way
to help me stay and fight
teach this fool how to love you
and finally get it right

Because without you I’m nothing
just another shadowless soul
Another wandering victim
to add to love's death toll
