In the beginning,
Before the beginning of all beginnings,
Was God.
And He was all.
But this was not enough,
And God knew
That the beauty and goodness of Him
Must be sent forth to spread everywhere-
Through all space, and time-
And eternity.

Then out of the darkness came light-
And the infinite Universe was born;
A creation of perfection,
Synchronized
To His never-failing pulse.

But, this was not enough,
And God knew
There must be life;
Living organisms of every kind
To flourish, multiply, and fill
His bountiful garden
And reflect the beauty and goodness
Of Him.
And it was done.

But, this was not enough;
And God knew,
A special mystery was yet to be.
Something of His exact image and likeness
Must be hurled out into time;
And after cycling through vast eternities,
Complete the circle- and be destined
To return unto Him.

And so,
God breathed an immortal breath,
And from His inner depths
Came the droplets
Of the very essence of Himself-
The Souls:
But they wandered aimlessly away from Him-
Without purpose.

Then, the all-knowing God knew at once
There must be a special vehicle
For these particles
Of His eternal Being
To dwell and travel in
On their endless journey back to Him.

And so,
God created Humankind-
Apart from any other creatures;
To carry His essence and nurture it;
Safeguard it and keep it,
So that they may come home to rest
As perfectly as they left.

But alas,
God gave mortal Human
Something called free will and intellect,
Which when used against His perfect plan,
Unrefined the Soul,
Crippling it,
Pushing it off course,
And making it unworthy to dwell again
In the home from where it came.

And so,
When its mortal shell expires,
The Soul within
Is set free once more,
Into the eternal stream
Of its endless journey back to God.

It then must seek another vehicle-
Another mortal shell,
In this vast garden of time,
In hopes that this new life
Will follow His plan more closely,
And in doing so,
Help refine it to become
Unblemished and pure as it was
The moment it was breathed.
Thus,
Bringing it a little closer
To its home and final resting place;
The inner depths of God.

This may take many lifetimes;
And every Soul contains within it,
Encapsulated forever,
The spiritual essence
Of all its former shells,
Which influence each and every lifetime,
And make us know- we've been before-
Not the same flesh,
But the same Spirit
Disguised in many faces.
Such is
The eternal journey of the Human Soul.

In his immortal breath,
God created all the souls of time;
And each one
is destined to live
In many homes and many times,
Until the circle is completed;
And each droplet of His essence
Is returned,
Whole and perfect,
Back unto Him;
God, the end,
After the end of all ends.

This is why we are here.
