Who Is This God You Serve?

You feed and live on lies and malice
Deception is the cloak you wear so elegantly
The crisp white robes, expensive suits or
The everyday clothes of the working class
Your hands... your blood-stained hands you wash
‘It is clean’ you think because you cannot see
Your eyes, they are sealed! Blind to the simple truths!
At meals you sit in the company of your cohorts
Devouring dreams and futures of the young
You breathe the foul stench of murderous deeds
Unending cries of the dead echo through the universe
Reaching high to the throne of the one Creator
Who is this god that you serve?

Under cover of night at clandestine forums you speak
In villages, towns and cities where poverty strangles
Where hatred, intolerance are inherent
Where vulnerable young men and women, beguiled
Brainwashed to hate and destroy their own lives
In light of day in the presence of strangers
Your words flow free like fresh golden honey
Rich and thick with lies and deception
Making incredible promises you could never deliver!
From lips perverse and pregnant with deceit
And who is this god you serve?

You may attempt to hide what is written in your heart
'Though quite often you succeed, yet never without a struggle
For truth and light are "alive" and will not be buried forever!
In this universe created out of order, be assured, there is an appointed day
When all men will give account for the time spent here on earth
The enemy, you claim, is anyone unlike you
Whether it be !in color, religion or race or whatever!
Stop! We would all do well to look deep within,
Past that mirrored image is you... your "enemy"
The one who murders with intent
Who is this god that you serve?

Who is this ‘god’ that you serve so diligently
This ‘god’ that requires mere mortals kill one another
On his behalf, and to accomplish what goals?
Implicitly I believe in the One true God
Who made everything out of nothing but His Word!
Who forbids pride, greed, hatred, lies and murder!
Who still, by the way, stays His mighty hands
Being desirous that no man should perish
His Word has gone out and will not return void
Patiently he's waiting our repentance,
Rest assured He will not wait forever!

You've been to a board meeting? Just joking. I am not a big fan of the corrupt corporate structure, nor of the ever self indulgent US Congress. Vince

These are those who pronounce God " en Prima Facia" A very thin layer of deceit in order to cover the Wolf that lies beneath the clothing of Sheep. These are people with no clear conscious. Those who's shoe soles have been stained with other peoples blood. The true Judge will make them atone their actions. One must have a deep rooted Faith to believe that there is Heaven and Hell. Those people do not have those roots. God Bless Audrey. Well written....Taz

I wish ayatollahs, fanatics and men driven by hatred who kill other people in the name of religion would be able to read this. You hit it right. There is one line in this work that strikes the strongest chord: "The enemy you see is truly you." So few words yet so piercing and powerful, it sums it all up. Very astute.

The god of the world Audrey, the one who is created by the carnal mind of humanity, who's god is their own lust in themselves. This is the god you so aptly describe, but Love, the God of my Heart is Him whom I serve, and will serve. Smile! God bless you, you sweet hearted woman, for this beautiful write.. Sincerely, Love, Moses PS. your message to my mail is still not getting thru. Smile!

I can feel the intensity like a ton of bricks weighing on my soul. But I can't blame it on other people. When you say, "You would do well to look deep within Far past that mirrored image The enemy you see is truly you," I can only apply that to myself. So if I feel anger at others for being the monsters they are, religious, corporate, etc, somewhere deep down all I see is the mirror pointing straight back at me, as you brilliantly put it. Thank you very much for sharing your world with me.

have you ever see "Saw" "Saw I, II, III, IV, V, or VI." this is the kind of justice i recomend for those who recieved those huge bonas' for failing. and insurance companies who fail in there ethical obligations. a repentance for the needy who may miss the gates of hell due to our intervention. but thank their lucky stars they have Christ for that. did you tell them the Good News? Did they listen. Oh well. jhl

We're definitely of like mind, Audrey. There are folks who profess their faith quite loudly but treat others badly. It seems like such a contradiction and you express your thoughts powerfully in this great poem! Much love, carolyn
