White Lace and Snowflakes

Nervous as a harried hen, Mom was in a dither
Would wedding guests be kept away by the winter weather?

My cheeks so rosy from the sting of howling, bitter winds
White lace and pearls, car door opened and a young girl stepped within

Fresh mums adorned the altar of “Our Lady by the Sea”
Blue bridesmaid angels led the way; John waited lovingly

Vows exchanged as God smiled down, crystal kisses danced in air
The reception band played merrily, all invited were there

Many guests remarked they’d never seen a happier bride
At midnight John took my ring-adorned hand, we ventured outside

Snow drifts piled ‘round the cars, Great Nor’ Easter just ending
My mate high on love (and champagne), wheels on highway spinning

Pulling into a gas station, trying to get a grip
Still in my bridal gown as the dipping temperatures nipped

The station attendant ran out and smiled, he’d seen us reel
But we were laughing and trading places behind the wheel

My tipsy spouse in a tux, truly a sight to behold
When we reached our new home, I carried HIM o’er the threshold'

"White Lace and Snowflakes" Beautiful title Carolyn, as also the pure_ness of a wedding should be enhanced by winter weather drifts of snow. Well worthy of the honor dear friend. Agape, Moses

Big congratulations on your second place with your stupendous win, Carolyn! The lovely memory of your wedding day has brought shivers down my spine. You are a great story-teller who can move hearts and make them cry. You imagination has no limitation and your love and affection for your husband go beyond the concept of marriage...to be carried on through eternity. You must have been a strong woman from what you write in your last line of your couplet, " I carried Him o'er the threshold. " I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Thanks for your lovely comments. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Hugs, Andrew.

Oh Well Carol, I do love this poem. Thank you so much for always commenting on mine, and esp. for the current C&I. That was my precious Big Brother whom I adored. And my baby brother who was an OB-Gyn dr., I lost in 2001 to a memory disorder. OMG life goes on, but as my grandmother Clendenon used to say "This sad old world" Love from Nola

Smile ~ First of all, this is "Beautiful; 'crystal kisses danced in the air.'" ~ Second, it reminds myself of a song by The Carpenters which in turn makes me think of The Lord of Host & how He was but a carpenter although I am quite certain that there was a greater reason behind it; perhaps because, He was the ultimate builder; renovator; refurbisher; restoration yet, back to The Carpenters & this beautifully image laced, soft & precious poe ~ ....Cont:)
