White Knuckle Ride- Sentinel

the wind whips the waves into a raging screen
hiding the light from the ships in trouble
those rocks are there yet not a warning seen
soon ships can turn into wooden rubble

troubled captain shouts keep a watchful eye
lifeboats at ready to brace the bad storm
hearts are beating fast no one wants to die
long for a bed that is both snug and warm

the boat is tossed on a wave to lighthouse height
everyone hanging on in sheer terror
the lighthouse lamp is just a flicker throws light
white knuckle ride seems to last forever

Beautiful quatrain Seren you paint a vivid story in just 3 stanzas - Living on a tiny Island I can relate to this so much - thank goodness for the RLNI! :-) hugs Jan xx
